Roy Williams...Dont tell anyone you heard this. Wade was working undercover to help expose these scumbags for what college basketball has become. Smart has wanted to play basketball for LSU his whole life. Someone would have to offer him something to get him away from his home town. Let that soak in.....

Look, I had a lot of things happening when the whole story started coming to light. I know In very general terms what’s been going on, but could someone explain how the FBI got involved?
It had to involve mail or wire fraud, eh?

i'm saying suspending him for just this media report is a spineless, dishonorable move and won't move the needle if the NCAA hammers us

The transcript published is most likely accurate to the word and Wade should be suspended until the trial and potential NCAA investigation is complete
You are entitled to your opinion and if LSU allows Wade to coach with this circus and recruiting violations coming out then the needle will go against LSU.
REMEMBER LSU is an University of higher learning and should be held to the highest standards and the athletic department is a small part of LSU and should be held to the same high standards.
I am no huge supporter of our AD and when the smoke clears then he needs to be held accountable for the hire if this scandal keeps heading in the wrong direction.

Sitting Smart and Wade today shouldnt affect the outcome of todays game. Not a terrible move. See how things shake out going into the tourneys. Not a bad move to try to let things settle down. Error on side of caution so SEC or NCAA doesnt try to prevent tourney participation.

What you don't seem to understand is the legal positions the University (not just its Athletic Director) and Coach Wade are in. The news report and the wiretap transcript raise legitimate suspicions (not convictions) of illegal conduct. The Administration and Board of Supervisors asked Wade to give them his side of it. Had he done so. credibly, they might well have kept him active pending the outcome. But, based on (very sound)advice from his legal counsel, Wade couldn't do that. So to protect itself, the University had no legitimate option but to suspend him.

he can't and you know that
as a fan of LSU, do you want Alleva and all the others in that room susceptible to subpoena?
if Wade discusses this issue with them, then they suddenly are fact witnesses

You want to separate the two, then how about the athletic department contributes no more funds to the school itself? Do you have any idea how much funding LSU athletics dumps into this school. LSU is not Standord, it’s not Northwestern, it is an athletics school and always has been. Its so foolish to take this stance

Well that depends on what the end game is. You want to frickin compete in basketball, then YES, that’s exactly what you do. You do what every other major basketball school’s AD does. Not at LSU though. We cant handle the success and all the things that come with it. We honestly dont deserve Will Wade. When all of this is finished and Wade is forced out, moves on to a BETTER program and builds a competitor there, we will fade into irrelevance for another decade because no legitmate coach worth his weight in shite will touch this program where our adminstration has proven it’s incompetence and makes everyone but themselves fall on the sword for the sake of them holding onto their position. It’s typical Louisiana politics and the reason this state is such a shithole.

Alleva would not have been subpoenaed. The new information was the Smart call, which has nothing to do with the Dawkins trial, evidenced by the fact that Smart was not involved with Dawkins and confirmed by the judge disallowing its presence in the case.
If the defense really wanted to try and go there, there is almost no chance Alleva would have failed to argue his irrelevance to the Dawkins case.
That being said, based on everyone's insistence that Alleva would be called to testify, my newly formed theory derived wholly from my arse is they actually did meet, and the suspension and reason was a diversion to hide that fact while they consider options for moving forward.

From the world of business where if one of your employees is doing something that may be illegal the first think you want is plausible deniability, that you had no knowledge of what the employee was doing. To maintain that you sever all communication outside of what occurs with your attorneys present.
