Also, institutional control is quite firm. The fact is that LSU might be in deep shite, and Alleva gave Wade an opportunity to convince him that there’s nothing to worry about. Wade chose not to take the opportunity to give his boss the explanation he owed him, so Alexander suspended him. And given that Wade didn’t offer any reason why no one should worry about Smart’s eligibility, LSU had no choice but to bench him rather than run the risk of playing a player that virtually everyone on earth knows isn’t eligible.
So far, LSU has done everything right. As soon as damning evidence surfaced, they took action. That will go a long way should there be some sort of investigation.

I dropped by this forum to read the outrage the LSU fans must have at the actions of Will Wade. To my great surprise, I find 26 pages of fans supporting this cheater. Fans not only supporting a coach that cheated, soiled your proud university's name, and harmed the reputation of college basketball but also calling for the AD's firing. Do you lack all integrity?
This isn't Duke 2.0 as some here have suggested. This is FBI wire taps! FBI WIRETAP RECORDINGS! There are no others in this country supporting Will Wade-- should that not make you question your misguided support of this cheater?

Alleva just as soon fire him. He never thought of the investigation that will soon come by this move. If the powers that be has just that evidence and nothing more then Wade and the university could be ok. But now the powers may think its more to it and drag the investigation on the university and Wade for a year or more. Did Alleva think that an interim coach would not leave the dumpster to another job before a blaze breaks out? Then he would have to hire another coach anyhow. Great position he put himself and the university in without all the evidence.
