How would you feel if the state wanted to bring a light rail to BR and connect to the suburbs?

BR is still trying to figure out how a proper road system works, and you’re talking about a light rail?

So they could drop me off at Essen and I-10 and I could walk a half mile in 95 degrees? Nah I'm good. BR will never be a walkable city

You could put the entire population of Louisiana in a single metro area and still not need rail.

Would have to be regular service with some express service to distant suburbs. And it would have to be downtown.

Don’t think there is enough demand. I don’t think there would be enough demand if you combined the population of Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

I would be more open to carpool lanes with express buses.

Houston doesn’t even have a decent metropolitan rail network.

If a system could somehow connect BTR, Downtown, LSU, Laberge, the Lady of the Lake/BR General S Hospital, the Mall of Louisiana, Blue Bayou (not all necessarily on the same line), Tanger, MSY, The shrine on Airline, and the CBD, it would be a great resource for the whole region.

However, none of us trust Louisiana politicians to not completely f$&k it up.

Crazy scheme

Who is going to ride the train to Tanger? L'auberge is arelatively small hotel. Blue Bayou?

To make a train work it generally takes a high dense population and a high dense destination or work area.

This sounds like a brilliant idea man. I know tons of people that just can’t wait to go the Prairieville or Walker for the day

There are much more pressing needs for (specifically) Baton Rouge government and Louisiana’s government in general.

Also, culturally enough more folks in BR won’t use any improvements to public transportation to make it worth the investment.

Brs public transportation was so shitty. They encouraged drinking and driving then out of no where started cracking down.

BR needed something like uber. It's spread out and buses don't run after a certain time and are unreliable.

People do it in Miami every day from April to October. You people are just fat and lazy.

BR needs a decent bus system more than it needs light rail.
