Mahershala Ali says:

quote:

“I think (series creator) Nic Pizzolatto wrote a finale that is out of this world,” Ali told us before “True Detective” premiered. “It’s so, so good. Everyone I know just wept over it.”

I am actually watching the first 7 episodes this week. I am on episode 3 right now, but I want to make sure I am up to date on everything before the finale.

I don't have any expectations for the finale. I just want to watch it without thinking this or that could happen and then it be a let down because something else happened, but I do think there will be a lot of information we learn..

I’m hyped for it. I don’t think it’s as good as S1 but it has been much better than S2. I still feel like there’s something strange about the white girl interviewing Hays. Is she fishing for more information or actually trying to jog his memory for his own sake?

So, did they just skip over what happened to Amelia?

What was the point of The very last scene of military wayne in the jungle?

What am I missing?

Pretty underwhelming season and, in the end, just not that interesting.

His dementia added nothing to the show IMO, I would have preferred him as an obsessed old man. I kept waiting for it to mean something, and even the scene with Julie didn't deliver.

Amelia and his relationship was horrible, no way they'd have stayed together.

I’m glad I don’t have to try to write a plot to appeal to everyone. In this thread people are either complaining about the ending being too straightforward or complaining that not every question was answered. Going any further in either direction would just shift more people to the opposite camp. It’s hard enough to believe the conspiracy as demonstrated actually worked, let alone some larger one.

To me, this was always about Hayes. The case was a way to explore his character over time. The details are secondary.
