I think they should all go back to this. They come in a multitude of colors sure to match any teams uniforms.

I don't know how the hell players used to wear those things. I played a game of pickup in Chuck Taylors once and it felt like my feet got run over by a tank.

Also, how the frick does a brand new shoe just explode like that on the first play? Are there any conspiracy theories out yet on Duke equipment manager being paid to cut the stitching?

Just once, I would love for a major corporation to accept ownership for what happened.

Nike did make a statement.

Honestly who would wear Nikes after this?

Anyone who finds them comfortable. It is like saying who wants to fly again when they hear of a plane crash.

Was it a new one? Most colleges only issue a few pairs a season.

I know it was Nike, but what was the actual shoe? Has it been reported? Honestly who would wear Nikes after this?

I'm surprised that this is seen as some kind of bad omen for Nike.

They don't have some long track record of shoddy shoe quality. I just think Zion is that much of a physical freak of nature. A smart marketing executive will spin this into a Zion brand that's ultra-reinforced or something, made just for him, but you can buy them too.

It's scary wearing those and thinking people actually played basketball in these

He's definitely a freak of nature, but I don't ever remember seeing Shaq or any other huge player's shoes explode the way his did. Had to have been sub-par quality shoes for them to completely rip apart like that.

If you're Zion, do you sign your shoe deal with Nike after leaving for the NBA?

I'm guessing the materials have gotten a lot better since then, so maybe this was just a bad glue job. A 280 lb dude is going to put a lot of force down.

Stupid move for a 280 pounder to be playing in PGs. There are plenty of Nike basketball shoes with ample support.
