In most states, if you file a false report on a supposed felony crime, it make the filing a false report charge a felony.

When cops told him they had 2 individuals under arrest, Smollet was ready to sign the complaint. When he found out it was brothers he backtracked and did not sign. He was ready to send 2 people to prison that he knew had nothing to do with the assault. frick this guy, he’s a sociopath that deserves a good 5 years in prison

He needs to be made an example of so this type of stuff is discouraged. And Sandman's lawyer needs to sue multiple MSN outlets and maybe discourage so much fake news?

He will plead the class 4 felony to some kind of misdemeanor.
Only chance to get this guy is on the letter. The feds can hammer him on the fake letter with the white powder. Some kind of terror charge.
Otherwise guy will pay a fine and do community service giving speeches about how cops are bad or some shite.
