There’s no way Rian Johnson or Kathleen Kennedy has read those. JJ, yes, but I doubt either of those clowns could tell me who Thrawn is.

In Zahn’s second canon Thrawn novel, Alliances, they reintroduced the Yuuzhan Vong as the Grysk. Maybe that is the direction they’ll go in IX?

Personally I’d prefer the film to begin right where TFA left off. Luke doesn’t throw the saber and says something about need to begin Rey’s training now. We can all live happily knowing TLJ was some type of force vision warning Luke what would happen if he doesn’t train Rey and rejoin his fight.

However, if I were JJ Abrams, what I would do is keep everything completely under wraps prior to the release date of Episode IX, and then surprise everyone with it actually being a remake of Episode VIII that fixes the problems of Rian Johnson's version. Then, announce that the real episode IX will be coming out next year. What JJ Abrams would have been filming during this time is doing the re-shoots for the retconned TLJ and the new Episode IX at the same time.

TLJ is a really bad movie, but there's so many pieces of a great movie in there that a competent director could probably turn it into a truly great movie with some creative cutting and about 20-30 minutes of new footage.

God I would shite my pants if Disney had the balls to remake VIII. I dont think they have the balls though.

I’d be shocked if JJ didn’t propose it. It’s really the only angle TLJ gives him to work with that makes some sense, but would still be narratively incoherent from a trilogy structure standpoint.

Would it, though? The two sides spend two movies essentially destroying each other only to have to unite to take on a common foe. Heck, Ray had the opportunity to team up with Ben and end the conflict in the last movie and turned it down, leading to both sides getting completely wrecked. I think it could work.

You’d need another 2 movies to do it properly.

And there’s regardless still the problem with hyperdrive weaponry, which I think is the problem that pisses him off the most.

As far as they're concerned, Kennedy took something from them and they wanted her head. which is weird because i don't understand how they can still be so enthusiastic about star wars after watching the last jedi

Well if your mother was brutally raped and turned into a crack addict as a result, I’d be very enthusiastic about taking down that person responsible for it.

fricking terrible. Like 50 years of space battles in the clone wars and some purple haired chick is the one to use kamikaze hyperdrive. Why even fly the ship yourself? Just autopilot that shite, unless we're supposed to believe the benevolent Holdo manually steered at fricking hyperspeed.

Also, someone mentioned hyperdrive is more like going through a wormhole, where as Rian just saw it as going really really fast. A wormhole would guarantee you dont smash into other objects, which is why the wormhole representation is a better form of "hyperspeed".

God Rian is so fricking dumb. Can we say this enough?

Meh, the prequels for all their faults still had a great deal of redeeming traits and introduced us to the vastness of the star wars universe.

The general story of the prequels was also good, George Lucas was just shite at writing and directing.

I dont think anyone disagrees with the story that was told.

Theres nothing, nothing at all, that I agree with in TLJ. It has no redeeming moments.

Wait, really? I never caught Abrams reaction.

The only public reaction I saw from JJ was when he claimed that TLJ detractors were people who "feel threatened by women".

Yeah, I wasn’t blown away intitially by that shot. Here was my thought process as the purple haired lesbian turned the ship.

“What is she doing?...... Wait.... This can’t be happening.... this invalidates all of Star Wars.... She’s going...... frick, like seriously why didn’t they use this against the Death Star or Starkiller Base? That would have destroyed them both..... How is this a 95% on the Tomatometer?! Jesus Christ get back to Rey and Kylo Ren, since that’s the only saving grace here.”

Which was written by these people:

Seriously, JJ understands the hyperdrive weaponry implications. There’s no way in hell he would have approved of that script if he was in charge. Rian Johnson’s interview would have gone something like this if he had discussed his vision for Star Wars with Abrams: Mr Dumbass

Oh yeah. I've forgotten all the shite these spinsters were spewing when everyone was crushing it.

Star wars just wasnt created for a feminist agenda. Just like Ghostbusters.

Why does Hollywood have such a fetish for taking movies with a heavily male fanbase and trying to force women into it?

Does anyone remember when everyone bitched about Sarah Connor in Terminator? Or Ripley in Aliens? How come everyone was okay with women then?

If I'm JJ, I just allow that to be a one-time Ex-Machina and just pretend that can't happen again. The other way would be to have Fin or Poe say something like "Can't we just do what Holdo did and go hyperspace into it?" Only to have someone answer "We don't have a ship we can spare that's large enough to even make a dent in that thing!"

Let's compare the relative sizes of the two ships, though:
Resistance cruiser was roughly 3,440m long, 700m wide, and 460m tall, for a rough volume of 1.1 km^3.

Supremacy, Snoke's Ship, measured roughly 13,250m long, 60,500m wide, and 4,000m tall, for a rough volume of 3,206.5 km^3.

That means that an object traveling at hyper-speed would have to be at least 1/3000 the size of the object it's hitting to significantly damage it. The first Death Star was roughly 160km wide, which calculates out to a volume of 2,144,660.5 km^3.

So, if one is using the same math to inflict the kinds of damage we see done to Snoke's ship via hyperspace kamakazi, the rebels would have needed a ship with 1/3000 the volume of the death star, or over 668 times the size of that resistance cruiser. The rebel flag ship under Admiral Akbar wasn't even half the size of the cruiser the Resistance used in TLJ, so it's possible that they simply never had a ship large enough to do significant damage to the Death Star that would destroy it.

However, they could have kamakaze'd the Imperial Shield Generator on Endor in ROTJ, which would have made their job much much easier.

Part of me hopes Star Wars is done after episode IX. Part of me hopes someone who loves it can salvage it and make it great again. Not sure what I’d prefer at this point
