Deep Silver as a whole didn't support this statement, but a single dev over there did say it, in response to people refusing to buy the game on Epic and waiting till it's on Steam and in response to Metro 2033 and Last Light being review bombed on Steam.

Call it petty, but this is a capitalist system and the consumers are speaking with their wallets.

Steam looks old and has a bunch of unneeded features. There, I said it.

Since this is the daily metro thread of the day,

I'd say D6 was my favorite area in 2033. Library 2nd. Then that tunnel with the nazis 3rd.

I 100% it looks super dated, but I'd rather have unnecessary features than lacking some extremely important ones

Indeed. Dude literally attacked the people who provide revenue for him to have a job. Never attack the customer base. This will set the tone for how devs on PC handle launcher exclusives for sure.

Everyone feels so entitled these days, who gives a frick where you have to have to purchase a game from? I agree that it is horrible timing on the Dev's side of things but they are in the business to make money. The game will be the same regardless where you buy it from.

But mooooooooom...it's REALLY inconvenient for me to have to click a DIFFERENT button to open this new game. Like...it's in a completely different part of my screen than I'm used to. This is bullshite.

We already mentioned cloud saves, which is probably one of the biggest ones for me

Developers don't have any say in the publishing side of things.

4A Games has already said they had no idea about the change, and that Deep Silver told them in a meeting after E3 last year.
quote:

“Regarding the Epic Games Store exclusivity, whose prime decision was it?”, I asked although the answer was obvious. “Don’t know for sure but definitely a surprise for 4A. But we are just developers. It’s publishers business”, they wrote. They confirmed that 4A Games was informed about it as soon as the decision was made. However, the developer wasn’t allowed to discuss such matters in public.

It was after E3 2018 when 4A Games was informed about the Epic Games Store exclusivity. Metro Exodus was still a game for Steam in terms of development before that time of period. “Well after that(E3 2018), that’s all I can say”, my source confirmed. The reaction of the employees at the 4A Games studios was mixed. “People are not concerned about money”, they stated. “Everybody [at 4A Games] was sure it(Metro Exodus) was worth it. It’s more about reputation. And people are blaming us [for the decision] though we had nothing to do with it.”

To my understanding, wasn't it just removed from Steam like a few days ago? I could be wrong though.

I'd argue that the community pages and workshops have been very helpful. With games like Total War, they've made mods so easy to add and update that it's breathed so much life into older games and really kept a much longer audience.

Then the smaller things like badges and trading cards are neat, even if pointless. It's nice to get something for playing the games you own.

That's all cool and everything but is it really worth not using another launcher? The point of the launcher is to update and allow you to play the game. Nothing else is necessary.

I just don't see how that is that important. You play PUBG, what do you need cloud saves for? Online games usually have their own saves. Fortnite is able to save all my skins and profile throughout the different ways I play through xbox, mobile, or PC. Yet, Epic launcher doesn't have cloud saves apparently.

If it's a single player offline game, then what's wrong with putting it on a hard drive?

Simple things like saving settings on cloud so I don't have to exactly remember them is amazing.

But let's take borderlands 2 for example. I play one night on my PC with buddies, but then the next night I want to play on my HTPC. Boot up BL2 on my HTPC and boom, my save points are exactly what they were on my desktop.
