Hannagriff just noted when discussing Coach O’s contract extension, that there’s an ocean of difference between you (LSU) and Alabama. But there’s also an ocean of difference between Oklahoma and Alabama, yet the Sooners coach just received a $6 million contract extension.

The Oklahoma coach made the playoff the last two seasons.

Before people say that’s because OU didn’t play Alabama in the regular season... LSU has a legitimate shot to make it every season by going 11-1 with a loss to Alabama. Orgeron went 9-3 the last two seasons.

Hanny is correct but LSU is closing that gulf and I predict that bama is at it's peak with only one way to go.

So, the Sooners haven’t been in any CFPs lately?

It’s ridiculous to liken LSU over the past 5 years to any team that has won a conference championship and played in the CFP during that time.

There's also an ocean of difference between LSU and Oklahoma over the past 6 years

Orgeron fans tell everyone not to use Alabama as a barometer, but love to use it in this instance.. Alabama is far better than everyone, so he deserves a raise! What they fail to understand is that LSU isn't in the same universe as Oklahoma right now

There's an ocean between LSU and Bama. It's really only a slow flowing creek between OU and Bama. They're close.

Its what the market bears.
Oklahoma needs to pay that to keep their coach and he seems to be worth it.
I don't think the football world is beating a path to hire Orgeron.
If anybody else wants to pay him 5 mil they can have him as far as I am concerned.

Fuk Hanny. He is a dumbass. LSU operates LSU and doesn't and shouldn't use Alabama as a single decision point on how to run our Athletic Department or compensate our coaches.

WTF would some of you do? Not give this coaching staff raises or extensions because of Alabama? LSU was predicted to be a bottom feeder in the SEC but ended up 10-3, a no. 7 ranking, and a winner of the Fiesta Bowl.

Do some you not realize just what Orgeron inherited? He had NO QB ready to compete at the SEC level and went out and found Joe Burrow just 6 weeks before playing a top 10 at the time Miami.

LSU needed a kicker so he went and got Cole Tracy.

LSU needed help on the DL so he went and got Fehoko.

LSU winning 10 games (& very well could have been 11 or 12) was a hell of an achievement.

LSU had 2 QBs who transferred out and 1 wasn't even good enough to start at a JUCO. We had 2 serviceable RBs but no Guice, Fournette, or Jeremy Hill.

Then there was the OL which started a different starting lineup for the 1st 5 or 6 weeks of the season.

LSU had some huge gaping holes that needed filling and this staff did a damn good job.

What should UGA do with Kirby Smart? He has lost to Bama in the NC and SEC Championship Game in the last 2 seasons and got blown out by LSU. I guess UGA should forget everything Kirby Smart accomplished and say no to any contract extensions or raises?

You don't run an athletic department based on obsession with 1 team. LSU is going to get where we want to be but LSU was not as strong as some of you apparently realize.

And this is part of the problem -- our own media guys refuse to give O any semblance of credit, or any benefit of the doubt. I'm not saying they should pump sunshine and spread propaganda, but try and proffer something positive and stop playing the broken record that this program is "oceans" off the mark. It's undermining everything the coaches are trying to do. It also makes locking down the talent in the state that much more more difficult.

I usually like what Hanny has to say, but this isn't helping.

And the Sooners coach realized he needs to get better on defense to win trophies so he replaced his DC. And O, . . .

No there isn't.

Orgeron isn't in the same universe as Lincoln Riley.

LSU aside, I think Hannagriff is overlooking the fact that Alabama is losing half of their starters on BOTH sides of the ball. They'll have to replace more than they usually do.

Oklahoma Coach's greatest achievement=
2 consecutive playoff births

ED orgeron's greatest achievement=
Beating a uga team that ended the season with 3 losses and being lucky enough that the lowest ranked 3 loss team was 6th in the country

Went to a self-improvement/efficiency seminar the other day. The moderator's opening line was: "You're not as good as you think you are.". I'll leave it right here.

Can we please at least score a FG against Bama before we extend this guy’s contract? Who’s coming to steal the great ED O from us? Who? And if they do..Aranda is ready to go I bet.

The major difference is their admin, boosters, and political cronies are all on the same page. They only care about hammer football and the do whatever it takes to keep Bama football on top. That my friends is why they are on top.
