After watching comeback YouTube linked me to the lsu Kentucky game from 1994. He was fire in that game. Dude had one of the purest strokes of all time. Catch. shoot. make. Klay Thompson before klay Thompson.
Also deaf dome was rocking.

He was one of my favorite players as a kid. I wonder what he is up to now.

How was Ben simmons underrated?

Great player. Was overshadowed by Randy Livingston.

True which was a shame because Livingston only played in his lsu career.

Not even close...Henderson was a supremely gifted shooting guard sought after by every college school coming out of Mississippi (I believe he was Chris Jackson's cousin and went to the same HS in Mississippi--Murrah if I remember correctly). So no...he was definitely not underrated. He just happened to come in the same year as the number 1 recruit in the nation, Randy Livingston. Henderson lacked the "handles" necessary to get his shot off in the NBA, which at that point in the mid-90s was not a league spotting up at 3-land and jacking up shots like today. Today...he would be a more athletic Klay Thompson (dude had crazy hops and could jump out the building).

Ronnie went to Murrah but Chris went to Gulfport. Ronnie played with Othella Harrington and Jesse Pate while at Murrah. Dude was sick.

That Murrah team was the best I ever saw. Lawrence County was great that year too with Vandale Thomas and Eric Dampier.

He was pretty highly recruited so I would say underrated might not be the right word to use.
He was a solid player with the misfortune to come along right at the time Dale was mailing it in at the end.
As I recall he left early for the NBA but went undrated or else went much lower than he was expecting. Never played a game in the NBA as I recall.

That team had both Livingston and Henderson. Randy Livingston got hurt badly a few games earlier and the team was never the same afterwards.

Livingston basically played on one leg the few games he played here. You could see his greatness in that his basketball IQ was off the charts. You could also see against Arkansas with their ferocious press that the fact that he was only playing on one leg was something that was too much to overcome.
It's a shame we never got to see a healthy Livingston. He was rated higher than Jason Kidd and by most accounts was the better player coming out of high school...before his injury.

Played against Randy several times while he was at Newman. My junior year had Cooper & Peyton Manning on that Newman team as well. Cooper was a fantastic athlete, could dunk on anyone. Playing Randy gave me insight in that I was never playing basketball outside of high school. Next level dude even in 8th grade.
Played against Ronnie several times at the rec center when LSU didn’t make the dance in 94-95. Lightning quick! Streaky shooter.
Randy was like a Chauncey Billups style player. Very strong and great facilitator of the ball. Could drain the three when needed.
Good memories!

I have always contendedRandy's first knee injury while trying to dunk as he leaped over a chair was the day the music died for LSU basketball. We got a shoort glimpse of what he could have been even on one leg until he was injured again.

A few years ago I read that he owns a plumbing company on the coast.

My argument goes for Ronald Dupree. As a a sophomore and a junior, he was top 2 in the league in scoring and rebounding, but he didn't even make 1st team All SEC because the team was bad.

Jack have you bumped your head?
Ronnie was 10 times the college player that Randy was.
Randy never was able to really get going at the college level because of his knee injury.
Ronnie actually came out of high school in 1993 as the top rated shooter in the country.
Henderson led the SEC in scoring two years in a row 23.3 points per game and 21.8 ppg despite suffering knee insuries of his own. He was a first team all sec player in 95 and 96. Left school after his junior year and was selected with the 55th pick overall.
Randy had all the potential in the world coming out of high school. Was rated the #1 player in the 1993 class over Racheed Wallace and Stackhouse.
Sadly, he only played in 32 games at LSU.
Randy's first year in Baton Rouge was pretty good averaging 14 points and a great assist stat 9 assists.
His sophomore year was bad as he averaged 6 points and 5 assists battling the knee injury.
With all that being said Ronnie was leaps and bounds the better college player.
