Was it was directly tied to Will Wade’s coaching by going to the 1-3-1, trapping their PG and speeding the game up.
We really couldn’t get much better of a coach than Wade.

I wonder if the same sentiment would be accepted if a football coach got out coached for 95% of a game against a vastly inferior opponent and then mounted a comeback at the last minute to eek out a win.
I like Will Wade and think he will be successful, but it's not like John Wooden is on campus. The guy is still young and still makes mistakes. Let's hold off on the coronation.

I think the biggest reason was Mays’ 9-0 run. That put Missouri in an uncomfortable spot they hadn’t been in all game. The 1-3-1 got one big steal, but Missouri did get decent shots against it. They just didn’t fall.
Mays getting hot + Williams effort on the offensive glass + favorable calls got LSU a win they had no business getting. That said, you NEVER apologize for conf road wins

It worked against them but a good ball handling/shooting team can eat that defense alive.

I remember being down 31-3 to Troy at halftime and still love the coach who presided over the comeback. I may be the outlier though. Just my thoughts...

Man let us have fun with a real basketball coach. No need to down it, the guy has brought the most exciting basketball we have seen since the Dale Brown days here. We will make a run this year

But with that scenario you start playing what ifs.
Geist was a very solid and steady PG. Missouri, yes they were without Smith, but they were a terrific shooting team. You don't shoot as well when you have to exert more energy and effort

Maybe if that football coach had taken a team that had gone 1-10 two seasons before with the previous regime and now had his team ranked in the top 25 and in contention for the SEC championship as well as CFB playoffs over halfway through the season— yea they would probably be able to forgive a game in which LSU had a terrible game against an inferior opponent but still found a way to come out victorious. Maybe that’s just me though who knows?

TOP DEFINITION Urban Dictionary
Sir Douchealot
If there was a Land of Douche, King Douche would dub his number one doucher "Sir Douchealot". A complete, utter, and absolute arse hat, frick arse, and fagol. A doucheopotamus.
"Bro, out of all the people at that bar, Larry should definitely be dubbed Sir Douchealot."
"After he showed her his pokemon cards, she spilled her drink on him and said ' You are Sir Douchealot, the prince of douchebaggery' and left."

Props to the players for sure, doing this towards the end of regulation when you're gassed takes some guts and mental toughness.

Basketball not equal to football. Bad comparison. Also, Missouri is not vastly inferior. Any road win against a conference opponent is good.

Our players were cold. Mays turned it around.

We should not have been in that position like we should not have been Saturday night but we won and that is what mattered. The team should Learn from the mistakes, be proud and thankful we won and move on.

Yeah like if say a team like Troy kicked our arse for most of a game only to have LSU mount one of the diggers comeback wins in school history. I bet fans would love the coach for that.....oh wait

One has never had a losing season and has had Chattanooga's and Virginia Commonwealth's programs ranked in the top 25.
The other one is the worst head coach in Ole Miss history.

The Tigers are doing fine, but they need to learn how to defend, or we will lose to better teams!

I think where he did well coaching down the stretch of that game was to not stop being aggressive on defense. We didn't need to be that aggressive once we got it down to 5, and we certainly didn't need to when it was 3 and 1, but we kept at it and created more turnovers and bad shots by staying aggressive.
Lots of times you see teams make that comeback to get it to a one possession game with time left on the clock to get the ball back with a chance to win/tie and they stop doing the aggressive things that got them there.

He wasn't outcoached. With 5 minutes left in the game, LSU was 5 for 25 from three, and it's not like they were bad shots. We just couldn't hit them. That happens sometimes.
