It is a bit weird. I mean the guy's career WAR is lower than Scott Rolen's is. He's a hall of famer, but him being the first unanimous in a class that could have contained Bonds and Clemens is weird. Baseball is all jacked up.

Recent players that should have been 100 Griffey Jr, Greg Maddux, Ricky Henderson.

Agreed.................. Downvote all you want but IMO Griffey was better than Bonds[because of injury]... Maddux was better than Pedro..... And Ricky was /is in a class by himself............

The fact the writers won’t put in Schilling because of his politics is utter bullshite
That has to be the reason.

Schilling is #15 in career strikeouts. Every other player in the top 15 is in the Hall of Fame except for Roger Clemens.

#16 on the list is John Smoltz. He's in the Hall of Fame. Are his achievements really any better than Schillings?

Smoltz: 3.33 ERA, 8x all-star, World Series champ, NL Cy Young, 2x NL wins leader, 2x NL strikeout leader, Roberto Clemente Award, #16 in all-time strikeouts

Schilling: 3.46 ERA, 6x all-star, 3x World Series champ, World Series MVP, 2x MLB wins leader, 2x NL strikeout leader, Roberto Clemente Award, #15 in all-time strikeouts

Not surprised to see Mariano get 100% but the first should have been Ken Griffey Jr.

Right. Not Ruth, not Cobb, not Mays, not Mantle. Weird.

I will reserve judgment until Mike Trout doesn't get 100% assuming he has another 5 years or so like he has had up to now.

Hopefully, this will make people on all sides let go of their 100% obsession.

I'd say two of the four don't belong in the hall, one is a closer which apparently has its own weird rules in terms of relative value, and one is legit.

Wouldn't be going in if he was a career Oriole.

I will be surprised if he does. I think there was a lot of question about his value during his playing days such that 100% is unlikely.

he was... Take away steroids and its not even close. Not that it matters anyway, everyone knows anything bonds did is irrelevant.

i think his inclusion is a product of how great he was, not necessarily how valuable his position is

Obviously, which is why they have their own set of rules for inclusion.

You have ZERO knowledge of the history of the sport..... Now if the same kind of ball has/had been played the last 70 years then YES..... But it hasn't...............
