Edgar Martinez
Mike Mussina
Roy Halladay
Mariano Rivera with 100% of the vote, first time in history
Not surprised to see Mariano get 100% but the first should have been Ken Griffey Jr.

Pretty cool the be first but a lot of players were deserving of that honor. Good for Moose as well, glad he got in

Wouldn’t have thought a relief pitcher would be the first one to finally be unanimous after all these years

It makes total sense, because those old guys love playoffs performances and World Series championship.

Mariano Rivera is the only player who is undoubtedly the greatest at his position. Other than maybe Ruth.

Baseball writers are the absolute worst

It’s funny because it’s a sexy position, but it’s the least important when one breaks it down

OR those NY writers are so biased they wanted a Yankee to be the first. As opposed to Griffey Jr. I don't remember..was it ever announced who voted for who that year?

It feels like those who would normally leave him off the ballot just assumed others would and voted him in.

For those curious
quote:
Roger Clemens earned 59.5 percent of the Hall of Fame vote, Barry Bonds at 59.1. Still a long way to go for both to reach 75.

Glad someone got 100%. At least it helps stop this “If Cobb didn’t get 100%, no one will” horseshite.
Kind of surprised about Martinez and Mussina. I figured they would get a lot of support but not enough for election.
