Both of their performances were horrible. I can't watch that lead singer....everything he does is cringeworthy. And that Robert Plant ripoff tone he uses is even worse.

My downvote magnet opinions:

1. I don't think he sounds like Robert Plant at all except for very quickly passing moments. Sounds more like the singer for that old hair band Slaughter than Plant IMO.
2. The songs themselves sounded fine. I'll say again that they're far better than the usual pop schlock that SNL typically tends to book these days.
3. I think at this point the awkwardness of the singer's stage moves are part of the identity of the band and he seems to be doubling down on it instead of trying to change, as detractors think he should. I'm beginning to think that's the right way to go. It's equivalent to morons BITD who figured they would just be huge Joe Cocker fans if he didn't act so spazzy when he sings. (Maybe not equivalent but similar)
4. If they are given leeway to continue I think they will eventually make some really amazing music. Maybe we shouldn't stomp out the last embers of a fire while we're in danger of freezing to death.

I mean, they were on SNL lol

I just think its american idol grade rubbish. But hey, to each his own. Their label clearly does a hell of a job getting their name out there

Maybe its just me lol they just seem like one of those squeaky clean mainstream products that idol churned out

And that little awkward gnome singing he needs a drug habit or something

It was god awful. My wife actually thought it was a SNL skit and i had to tell her that it was an actual band.

How the F did they get so big and signed to a big record deal? I dont get it. I can walk down the street in NOLA or Austin and find 5 better house bands playing on a Tuesday night

Has a band ever successfully made the transition from "boring as hell knockoff" to "amazing"?

Because muh "at least they play real instruments unlike most garbage these days!!"

Seems to be the most glowing compliment their fans can muster

Hanson covering Led Zepplin would be interesting tho.

Count yourself as fortunate. The second song was horrible/painful...that being said, they usually don't sound bad live. SNL stage isn't really a great setup for people who are actually playing guitars and singing.

Rush put out some pretty good stuff...when they first started out many considered them a Led Z knockoff, too.
