Saw an advertisement for a new king cake and had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. The new place Francesca’s on Harrison Ave., they are making them themselves. It’s called Gooey St Louie king cakes. Really good and different than the randazzo’s style. Definitely will be buying anothe one.

I don't think you understand, your integrity was being maligned. It is wildly assumed on this board that if you say something nice about a new establishment and you have <10,000 posts, you are an interested party in said venture.

It is a rule that is seldom ignored. Like when someone says something good about an old established restaurant, some nimrod will say it is overrated and past it's prime. It's so automatic it could be a bot.

Gotcha andouille, did not even think of that. I have no affiliations. I try different types of king cakes each year because I think most are over rated. Cannot find a go to.

I was not kidding about the butter cake. That is the name in St. Louis for a specific butter cake, which is popular in STL.

Meh
It's pretty easy to spot the nimrods who sign up just to pimp their business. They are of course new and then gush about a place listing specials, hours, location, etc.

The OP is not one of those people.

Yeah, I’m not one! Just curious what is your go to king cake? I did not see a king cake thread yet with everyone’s favorite.

There are threads on everyone's favorite cakes.
I really like Manny Randazzo's cream cheese filled. I like just about everything from Haydels and they are my choice for when I have to place shipping orders.

So far this year I've had Coffee & Regular, Coffee & Pecan Praline, Haydels Plain, Hi-Do Bavarian Cream, Rouses Cream Cheese and a plain from Wal-Mart. The Rouses one was my favorite with the Coffee & Pecan Praline a close 2nd.

Gooey butter cake is what passes for a delicacy in St. Louis. Just like almost every other St. Louis gastronomic creation it is utterly disgusting.
