Wife showed me a new King Cake- the Cannoli King Cake from Nor-Joe Imports in Metairie! Looks awesome. Will try this weekend.

Anyone tried it?

Had one last year, enjoyable if different.

Just tried a Hi-Do Bavarian Cream a few moments ago. Oh. My. Bavarian Cream is one of my real weaknesses.

My kids went to the King Cake Hub and came home with the Hi-Do cream cheese KC. I liked it and was really good. They also picked up a gambinos KC.

I am not a big fan of Gambino’s icing and fake sprinkles. Still liked the Cake as it was not much of a cinnamon roll.

Don Phuong - finally tried one and it was delicious. Not over the top. No crazy toppings or fillings. Just a solid moist king cake with enough filling to not overdeliver, and a slather of cream cheese icing that was sweet but delicate.

District donuts croissant king cake - enjoyed picking at this one but did not crave. It was no doubt tasty when warmed in the mic for 12-15 seconds.

My wife went there earlier this week and came home with one from Cottage Catering & Bakery out of Harahan with the name "Caludas" on the box in bold print. It was very similar to the Randazzo style king cake and tasted very good. Oh, and it was the traditional style with no filling.

I’m pretty sure Caludas is the one that Mannys ex wife is involved with

Well, that may explain why the king cake tasted so much like a Randazzo's version.

Y'all have to try a king cake from Angimomma's! They are huge and stuffed to the brim. Best I have ever had! I'm pretty sure she makes them from her house in Prairieville. Check out those options.....

We just tried 5 different king cakes from Duong, Hi-Do, Chez Pierre, Tartine and Navarres in Springfield

The Hi-Do was far and away the winner in my opinion. We had strawberry cream cheese and it was ridiculously good

Not as good as Calandro’s obviously, but close

Sorry for the lack of pictures... just threw this together quickly

Best this year, so far: La Petite Sophie in River Ridge. Chocolate and candies ginger filling, or strawberry cream cheese. Blows the doors off of the danish dough squishy kind.

Since were talking king cakes almost in general now, I'll be back down south the first week of March in the Baloxi area. What's a good local place to pick up a king cake there? Wanting to avoid a chain store like Rouses if possible, but I need to get the yankee family one while we are there.

The wife picked up a Robert grocery store king cake almond filling. I was a little Leary at first but it was not bad. The cake reminded me of old style king cake which is what I was brought up on. I am not a big fan of the white icing on top with the fake looking sprinkles.

I wanted to know if the owner was making the KC from scratch or if it was just a 3rd party private label or someone else making for them before I spent the money on the king cake.

Bywater Bakery has some pretty unique flavors--including savory (e.g. Boudin, Crawfish, Spinach & Artichoke). Of their sweet flavors, my personal favorite is the Sweet Potato, which is excellent.

Right on

If they could keep up with the demand for their pastries theyd make a killing. They cannot keep anything stocked

Was at a party today and had:

Antoine’s- good cake, enjoyed white icing not my favorite but overall was good

Nonna Randazzos- blueberry cream cheese filled. I liked it much better than Randazzos as it was not as bulky. Enjoyed

Nor-Joe Imports- cannoli king cake. Big fan, was different obviously with stuffing of cannoli filling.

Gotcha andouille, did not even think of that. I have no affiliations. I try different types of king cakes each year because I think most are over rated. Cannot find a go to.

Picked a king cake up from Heavenly Donut this past weekend and Holy frick that think is delicious. The best I've had to date
