I do have a question for you though, OP.

Did you have your good Sunday jeans on?

I told him that if he were to ever make a comment like that again, there would be a consequence involved.

What exactly did he say?

Please tell me there was some shite talking along the lines of "You keep this up and we're gonna be having a second funeral today!"

Do employees count? If so...many many times. I've had some really stupid people work for me over the years.

Ive been in a few fights as well in public over the years with words exchanged...guess that counts?

For lack of better terms, he said the deceased, who had cancer, got what he deserved

We can only hope. OP you sound like a douche. The couth thing to do would have been shutting the frick up. Generally I just let other people make an arse of themselves if they want to.

Funny enough my exact quote was “Make another comment like that and I’ll personally make sure you end up in a casket as well.” The family thought both of our behaviors were insensitive and asked us to leave after that.

When you reprimand another adult, you should do it discreetly and let them maintain their dignity. Otherwise, people’s natural reaction is to get very defensive.

If you spoke to me loudly and rudely, I’d tell you to frick right off as well, which is probably why you were also asked to leave.

Admonishing someone is one thing.... Reprimanding is a whole other animal... Apprehending them is a horse of an entirely different color.

So the guy said, “That’s what happens when you smoke 3 packs a day for 40 years”?

He’s kinda right

Would bet it was a comment with context like that or health related. Innocuous but poorly timed. OP had his Ariats on and felt salty.

How do you know the deceased hadn't mistreated the guy who said it? Why the hell are you butting in? You got tossed. You were definitely in the wrong.

Somebody should’ve called you out for starting a fight a funeral. Sounds like you and the other guy deserve each other

You got kicked out of a funeral for fighting. Dude you are my hero! Ive always wanted to get into a fight with the father of the bride at the wedding but yours might be better. Don't ask why, I've just always thought that would be a huge violation and people would remember it forever.

December of 1980 I got kicked out of Harlan Sanders’ funeral as I was inebriated and shared loudly to the others there that I was simply too drunk to taste this chicken.
