Move bowl games to preseason

Just an idea, and thought I’d see what rantards thought.
Move most bowl games to preseason and use the handful of prominent bowl games in a playoff.
-could have intriguing match ups that would generate interest like the early season first week games do
-all stars would play
-DO NOT COUNT them in a seasonal record, but treat them as the pros do preseason games
- crowds would likely be better as fans are eager to see games after the offseason
-bowl system survives the new playoff era

So the solution to save the bowl system involves making them into de facto preseason games where most teams would be without 75% of the starting lineups that earned them that bowl game bid because of players who have either gone pro and are in NFL training camps or graduated, moved back home, and started careers at normal jobs

So you think making it a meaningless preseason game instead of a meaningless end of season bowl game will increase excitement and player participation?
Solution:
Neutral Site kickoff games held at bowl sites
Require all conferences go to 9 game conference schedule
Eliminate conference championship games
8 team playoff
Round 1 of playoff on campus on weekend conference championship games were held
Rest of playoffs go on as they do now
Can eliminate bowl games at end of season

College basketball has done something like that with all of their special games and tournaments to start the season.

Honestly, I think your idea is a little ahead of its time. A lot of people here haven't accepted the inevitability of what's happening to the bowls.
If you want to save the bowls (maybe it's not worth it), this is a way to do it. I'd count them in the regular season though. They would be weighted appropriately...like a bonus game.
Most of the people who will downvote, do so because they are hanging on to the old bowl system. They don't realize that's not an option.

Instead of these stupid neutral site regular season openers, have the bowl games take their place. We’d get interesting nonconference matchups (LSU/FSU, Texas/Georgia, UF/MICH, etc, assuming they don’t make the playoffs)
Probably wouldn’t work, but it’s a interesting option nonetheless
