Florida is going to get crushed with early entrants to the draft on defense. That team will look much different next year and if you think Franks can beat LSU in TS that’s on you

The game played out the way I expected. I posted before the game our OT's would struggle with UF's speed around the edge which they did

Hopefully Dare Rosenthal can move into the left tackle position next season and one of the current tackles can step up on the right.

If we’d bring in a competent and legit offensive coordinator, I’d have way better hopes for the next couple seasons. Ensminger just isn’t going to get it done.

UF could do well with Mullen. They are and will be a much better team than people realized

They put it on Michigan last night. Florida is better than people know. Although I still believe that LSU shouldn't have lost that game. Lack of depth cost LSU the game

Phillips being out was the difference, IMO

LSU'S offensive tackles weren't athletic enough to handle Florida's speed off the edge. It's best just to say lack of depth or else you'll get accused of trashing the players.

It certainly hurt, but our OT's got killed that game leading to the sack fumble of Burrow and other sacks, hurries along with 2 INTs, one being a pick 6.

Naw, the reality is we are on a slow decline

What tipped you off?

Was it the #3 recruiting class for 2019 or the #2 class they're building for 2020.

Or is it the first new year's day bowl game in 7 years?

Yep the decline is real.

The biggest issue with The LSU program has been our inability to maintain depth with the early exit of our upperclassmen since 1/912 - We continue to get some real superstars in key positions but injuries, off-field screw ups and early exits create severe gaps at key positions - mainly linemen and LBs of late.

Watching Patrick Surtsin get his arse kicked last night gives me hope that LSU can get back to a level to compete against anyone, including Bama. We need s competent QB with consistent OL play along with some creative offensive plays to mix in to our bread and butter power run game. We will likely never be OU type offense, which is fine with me - they suck at running the ball. All that being said, there are many good programs out there every year and unfortunately many are in our conference and division - whomever wins in the SEC really has to earn it - not so for other conferences. Our team is still well respected if not feared. Just because we aren’t number 1 doesn’t mean we can’t get back very soon to where we were. Leadership like DW and Burrow can turn a program around quickly. It’s been 19 years since vaunted OU has won a Natty - think about that - even with their easy entry into playoffs out of the Little 12. The SEC is NFL lite and our team is usually a part of that narrative every year. That gives me hope - I’m a briliever that our time may be circling back around.

Troy loss.
Canada debacle

Both of these are distant in the rear view mirror.
Saban lost to ULM in his first year. He lost to UAB in his first year. Troy came a whisker of beating in 2004 under Saban and in 2008 under Miles. Too much is made of this game.

2016: 8-4
2017: 9-4
2018: 9-3 to date.
That decline is so slow, it's almost going backwards.

What needs to change for all of this to happen? Staff?

“Florida and A&M”

Those are potentially very telling L’s for LSU football. They both came against first year head coaches at the programs and programs seeming to be in disarray just a few months earlier. They may not have been “bad” losses, but they certainly produced warning signs for the LSU program.

“ losing to Arkansas is a bad loss”

We didn’t lose to Arkansas.

Florida just beat a pretty good Michigan team last night. Maybe Florida wasn't as bad as we thought. Plus our offense had nobody athletic enough to nullify their edge rushers.

“ just beat Michigan”

That doesn’t make me feel better being 1-2 vs fla in last 3 yrs when they were struggling.

In fact, it further drives home my point of concern about falling behind them.

The gulf between Bama and LSU has never been wider. No chance LSU beats them in the next 3 seasons.

The good:
Ed O has put together a great 2019 class.
2020 class has potential to be elite.
Won big games over Miami, Georgia, & Auburn in 2018.
NY6 bowl game.

1. If there aren’t additional elite dlinemen, this class will not meet the needs or nearly elite. So that remains to be seen.

2. 2020 class is good so far.

3. Miami was a bad team and the site was really like a home game. UGA was a good win
AU was a bad team and the coach was nearly fired had it not been for that salary.
NY6 Bowl against UCF is not better than Chick Filet against Michigan IMO. The money is the same for all conference teams and beating Michigan is a win in recruiting because that is who we will recruit against and not UCF.

The TAMU loss was inexcusable. The offense is terrible and lost that game and IF in the first half.

This is the peak for this staff and not the floor.

“He lost to UAB”

Context is important.

LSU had 7 losing seasons out of our last 10 when Nick loss to UAB in his 1st yr at LSU. LSU hadn’t had a losing season since 1999 when Coach O loss to Troy. As different as night is to day.
