Was discussing LSU’s future over beers with friends last night and I still can’t seem to come to a conclusion on where we are going.

The good:
Ed O has put together a great 2019 class.
2020 class has potential to be elite.
Won big games over Miami, Georgia, & Auburn in 2018.
NY6 bowl game.

The bad:
Coach E.
Troy loss.
Canada debacle
Losses to Florida & aTm in very winnable games.

It’s just hard to know where our trajectory is going. With that being said, I’m along for the ride and I want us to win no matter what. Here’s to hoping we can finish this year strong and put some of these doubts to rest.

Geaux Tigers!

Preseason number 1, our pitching staff is incredible. Omaha bound. Possibly one of the best baseball programs LSU has ever had...strong words

The trajectory is up just not as fast as we'd like. Since the Troy loss it's been that way. Still a couple of wins left on the field since then but the team and program has improved. Our level as a program isn't gonna reach the heights we long for until we get a QB like three of the teams had last night. Someone the staff doesn't have to scheme around at all.

The Troy loss and Canada are over and done with now. They have no impact on the future of this program. I’d also say losses to Florida and A&M on the road are far from bad losses. You don’t want to lose any games, but Troy is a bad loss. Losing to Arkansas is a bad loss. Florida and A&M aren’t that level.

O is the coach. That itself keeps us from competing

You gotta let these two go son. We sucked last year and Troy was good. And Canada wasn’t much of a loss. Or are you embarrassed that there was a “debacle” or something

You might notice that all of the “good” was from this year and next, while all but one of the “bad” was from last season. Now I want to remind you that you were writing about “trajectory”. What does all of this show you about trajectory? Anyone? Bueller?

I understand it’s over and done, but it was how it was handled and who we replaced him with. Just makes you scratch your head is all.

It's only going to get better. Next year we will have less losses. One or two

I wouldn't be so sure. Florida Auburn and Texas AM could all shoot past us. Florida will already finish past us this year.

Mixed feelings are appropriate. On one hand, O brings in good recruits and he always will.

On the other hand, he makes poor decisions on and off the field. He hired a competent OC then fights with him so he hires the TE coach who will be a yes man. The only problem with that is O knows nothing about the offensive side of the ball.

LSU will continue to have issues on offense and the D will be solid as long as Aranda stays.

If and when Aranda leaves, I'm sure O will hire another yes man on D and that's when the roof caves in.

Good point. Those 9 losses this year still hurt don't they?

What does last year (Canada, Troy loss) have to do with the future ?

Fortunately all 3 will be home games. It feels like a decade since we played UF at home even though it's only been since 2016.

A&M loses a lot of starters along their OL and DL. Auburn fans are more unhappy with Gus than LSU fans are with O. They also have a lot of internal problems.

UF could do well with Mullen. They are and will be a much better team than people realized.

They put it on Michigan last night. Florida is better than people know. Although I still believe that LSU shouldn't have lost that game. Lack of depth cost LSU the game

The game played out the way I expected. I posted before the game our OT's would struggle with UF's speed around the edge which they did. I also said we lacked a back that can get run between the tackles well and that was UF's weakness. Lastly was our struggles vs the run and especially a DT QB and UF abused us there. It was a bad match-up for us based on strength vs weaknesses.

Naw, the reality is we are on a slow decline. There may be minor spikes, a top 10 - 15 ranked finish but generally our foreseeable future is a perennial 15-25 type program.

This pretty much sums up what you can expect to see.

We'll have high highs and low lows, without a great deal of consistency.

This is not to speak ill of the head coach here though. He's a great man.

No, the quarterback undoubtedly has a major role. But until we have good solid depth on the offensive and defensive lines, we have no chance.
