130k isn't bad if he can get out making 250k+ at 29. Having said that we haven't even established if he is a medical student.
Now if you go somewhere like Tulane, where simply tuition is 30k+ per semester, then you debt is going to be on an entirely different level. Can easily be $400k+.
I know a guy who went Caribbean that has over $500k in student loans.

Not being argumentative, just saying the ROI is more than likely not worth that, without some sort of relief.

Between investments, savings, assets, roughly $850,000 to $900,000. If you add in things like life insurance it would be like $1.4 million. But of course I’d be dead so wouldn't do me much good.

I’m still Sallie Mae’s bitch. I don’t want to talk about it.

How are things like mortgages factored into a net worth calculation? I've always wondered that.
If you've got a $500K house that ya put down $100K and the mortgage is $400K, is your network (for that one specific item) -$300K? Also, how is salary factored in?
Is it some sort of annualized calculation like people do when they value a company on 10x or whatever metric, or is it simply a current day snapshot of all your cash, investments, retirement, and equity minus all debt and liabilities?
If it's the latter then some of these figures are beyond unwelcome. If it's the former, then I guess I could see them.

Net worth is what you have left after you sell everything at market prices and payoff all your debts.
Sentimental value does not count.

You have me scared now. Lol. I am at $240k at 31. Make about $80-90k/year. It's not even possible for me to get to $1 mil by 40, but I know I am well ahead of most.
This is the OT. Most of the responses here are bullshite. Don't he scared. You're doing fine.

Are you maxing employee match and getting close to $18k limit?
