I would have liked to see Drew hit 4,000 to keep the streak going, but health is DEFINITELY more important. He has been hit quite a bit over the last several weeks.

Figured he would be in for at least one series to get over 4000

I agree, in the grand scheme of things it is meaningless when you compare it to the primary goal.

If Brees doesn’t start then I can’t see him being active

You run with teddy & Taysom and leave that roster spot for an extra OL so another starter can rest

yeah, would be nice to see him get the 4000 but, one cheap shot by the scamthers and goodbye title.

The % is so small but how stupid would we look if Brees ruptures something on that first dropback trying to get a meaningless 8 yards? I get removing all variables here and just letting Bridgewater have a full game.

I think getting someone else active for the game is a factor as well.

This is Bridgewater's tryout for starter next season

Drew retires after the Saints win the Superbowl

I really don't think he retires after this year. We just went 14-2 with a very difficult schedule and a ton of young talent. If anything he comes back for one more year with a shot at a repeat.

I do really hope it ends up working out to keep Bridgewater here though.

Oh the Saints staff and players are stats whores. TB starts and DB strolls in for a down and throws a 10 and walks out.

Really throw them for a loop and have Brees come in and runs the Hill package

The idea that Teddy can come in and significantly ramp up his free agent value on wk 17 in a fairly meaningless game is not very ideal. Alternatives: I'm not sure. Play Taysom and maybe piss off Teddy?

Teddy can be our 12 year heir apparent to Drew, it would suck to lose him to other teams mostly because of the extra leverage this game can give him.

I suspect they gave Brees the option to start if he wanted the 8 yards and he declined. He’s the NFL’s all time yardage leader and a first ballot HOFer. I doubt he really gives a shite about 8 yards.
