Any of you guys have any recs on some warm WATERPROOF, not water resistant, camo? I’m wearing Drake gear right now but it just doesn’t keep me dry. Hunted last week in constant mist and my shoulders were soaked when I was done. I hear Sitka is jam up but it’s expensive. However if it works I would consider buying an outer shell and layering underneath with cheaper wool. Anyone here wear it? Also heard of Columbia being good but people say the newer stuff isn’t as good as the old material.
What is your go to that keeps you dry as well as warm.

Sitka all day. Hunted second split opener in Stuttgart a couple weeks ago in 34 degree rain and I was bone dry and warm the whole entire hunt... Easily the best Camo I’ve ever owned

I know Sitka is big on their layering technology. I admittedly haven’t researched it but is that how they pull the waterproofing off? For example would I be able to buy an outer shell and layer under it with non Sitka gear and stay dry or is the layering system how they obtain it?

Not Frogg Toggs. They are very water resistant but after a heavy rain you get wet

Sitka uses gore-Tex. I got a new coat and pants. Have only worn the the coat in rain at the gun range. The coat is the incinerator. I think I’ll be very pleased.
If you have something like Filson or McAllister and keep it waxed you will absolutely stay dry.

when I've hunted nova scotia, Alaska, rhode island, maine..... etc, and there is precipitation, I've always worn helly hanson slickers much like I do for tuna and wahoo

Yes, I have a delta wading jacket that is just a non insulated shell. It’s water and wind proof and you can layer with whatever you want underneath. It’s also great on the warmer days because it non-insulated. They are pricey but they will last a long time and sitkas customer service is great for repairs if you tear it.
Also if you know a guide or outfitter check with them cause if they are a “Sitka athlete”, they can get 40-50% discounts on gear.

I’ve had a Browning rain jacket that packs into its own pocket. Great to have in pack just in case.

Sitka is worth it. Can get it after season for much lower price.

Yep, looks like camofire has several today. Here is a comparison of the different models. Pay attention to the cuts on your sizing. I wear a medium in most clothing items. If I wanted to layer a bunch of stuff under the cloudburst which is a standard cut I would need the large. But my Expedition cut Stormfront lets me layer whatever I want in a medium.

Stop using people’s Sitka discounts. Going to ruin it for the people that actually earn it.

I second that, Drake sucks. A brand new Drake jacket i got last year leaks at the shoulder seams. I emailed customer service and was told i needed to spray seams with "water proof conditioner".... tried it, still leaks.... i will never buy Drake again.

In my experience:
Waterproof
Warm
Inexpensive
You can pick two.
If someone can show me otherwise I’ll buy it today.

I have a HH PVC jacket and pants, and I sweat in it if I'm moving around a lot. Not breathable at all
