Got the Red Dead Redemption 2 PS4 Pro for Christmas. Any recommendations for the game?

During the course of the game, murder the frick out of every heron, egret, and roseate spoonbill you see and pluck it. Raid every gator's nest for eggs as you come across them. Do not sell the plumes or the eggs.
Get the legendary buck killed so you can make a talisman that makes getting perfect skins easier as soon as you can and learn about how to get perfect skins from animals. After you get those two things down, execute every three star animal you come across. If it's pretty, it dies. Sell the pelts to the trapper, along with legendary pelts. If they're small animals that you don't skin, just hang on to their wee, perfect corpses until you find out where you need them. Sell good corpses and pelts to the butchers, as they're useless for anything other than cash.
Doing these two things consistently during the course of the main game will greatly reduce the grind if you wish to 100% the game after you finish the story.
Also, when they say the game will take 50-60 hours, they mean it, but that's only if you resist the urge to do a lot of side stuff.

Whenever you get to St. Denis , go to the tailor and dress like a Peaky Blinder.
It’ll make you feel good.

Save your best horse names for later on. I feel bad re-naming my current horse "Future Glue".
RIP.
RIP.

Yeah, about the horses. Always, always, ALWAYS carry five or so horse revivers. You want to be able to resurrect a horse that it took you 15 hours to fully bond with.

Buckle up and dedicate a severe portion of your life to it. Because of work and my wife I’m still only in chapter 6 and I’ve had it for 2 months. That’s what happens when you can only play an hour or so a night. It’s a HUGE game, not only in size of the map and things to do but the story itself is long af. In a great way

There's trains, you buy tickets, self explanatory imo

Don't fret over money in single player. I don't want to spoil anything but there are ways you can have more money than you need early in the game, without exploits or cheats.
Find a gun setup you like and stick with it. All guns are viable throughout the whole game. Aim for the head.
Again, no spoilers but you can have the second or third best horse in the game in chapter 2. You can look it up.
I would recommend only playing main story missions until you unlock the fence as well. The fence is insanely important throughout the game.

Interesting, I had more fun playing the Red Dead Campaign than I've had since the Last of Us campaign.
It has been nominated for just about every award in the book. It won 4 awards and the Game Awards and was nominated for 8. I think you're opinion might be in the minority here

oh im most certainly in the minority. i guess i dont play enough hours consecutively for it. or maybe i havent gotten far enough into it yet, but i find myself wanting to go back and play borderlands 2 for a 6th time when im playing
i played god of war all the way through and loved it. maybe its the cutscenes not being as movie like or something, but it just doesnt click with me the same way it seemingly does for most others

Don’t rush through the story. Do all the side missions, meet the strangers, bounty hunts, those types of things. Utilize the stagecoach/train when you need to travel a good distance or you’ll end up spending a ton of time riding your horse
It’s an amazing game.
