Back in the 80’s I worked at a funeral home in Baton Rouge. I lived in an apartment connected to the home and did various jobs there. They basically told me that people will pay whatever in their time of grief so get what you can. It was at that time I decided cremation would be my preferred choice after dying.

Sorry For your loss. I’ve heard funeral homes can be scummy as used car salesmen.

Drop that Chris Nakamoto baw a line. Investigate those frickers. That bait and switch sounds sketchy as hell to me.

The Seale’s are some of the best people you will ever deal with period! Mr Jeff the guy who handles the head stones is hands down the greatest man alive.

Prayers for you and your wife. I can’t imagine going through that!

Man. I have no words. I am so very sorry for what you are experiencing right now. All of it. I can’t even imagine going through that.

I am happy that you found Seale and they are much more accommodating.

Seale is the Deal. Resthaven has seen me for the last time.

I have always thought it was pretty tacky for a funeral home to stick their company logo at the bottom of an obit.

Preface: My wife is pregnant. Back in June, the baby was diagnosed with Anencephaly (relatively rare condition that prevents normal formation of the skull and brain). This basically means that the baby will likely live only a few hours. We started talking to funeral homes in BR area a while back to prepare for the January due date.

Having buried an Anencephalic child, it's extraordinarily painful...I was very lucky in that we were able to bury her in the family grave in old Algiers...she's between my grandparents and when my time comes, my ashes will be placed with her...

One thing I can tell you having lived through this agony...folic acid is your friend...D1 and D2 were our fourth and fifth pregnancies...

I told my family multiple times to bury me in a cardboard box and the cheapest way possible. I'm dead, I don't need a fancy box to be dead in.

Did not know that. Still odd that the funeral home gets a plug at the deceased expense.

First and foremost, prayers for you and yours. Resthaven is owned by SCI the largest funeral conglomerate in the world. They are also very sleazy. They have “Dignity” as there logo, stay far, far away from any funeral home that carries that logo. Seale’s is still family owned and family owned funeral homes are for the most part fair and honest. God Bless you and yours.

Seale Funeral Home paid for the entire deal out of pocket when we contacted them. Won my family's business for life.

And for death.

I had my father cremated last month. They charged me $250 for a cardboard box for his ashes. It is crazy how expensive the whole process is.

To the OP, I am so very sorry your wife and you are having to go through this. I can't even imagine your pain. Good thoughts sent your way.

Extremely sorry you have to go through this. What kind of fricked up, sociopath works at a funeral home where their sole purpose is to try and finagle as much money as they can out of grieving families?

Resthaven is going to try and frick with the wrong person one of these days. Book it.

Any and all that work for a Service Company International (SCI) owned funeral home. They are the scum of the earth.

Go back to funeral home/cemetary later with a bag of ashes. (just generic ashes from the fireplace)
Make sure guy sees you dump ashes in children's area.
Show guy your finger.
