Somehow this debate started at the office yesterday and I curious to here what the OT thinks. How many square feet do you consider a large home?

Based on my personal experiences, anything above 2,000 square foot would be large.

Starter home - less than 1800 sq ft.
Modest home - greater than 2000
Large home - greater than 3000
Modest home - greater than 2000
Large home - greater than 3000

But that doesn't make any sense to use the term "starter" b/c you can have a luxury home that is less than 1800 sq ft.

Hose I'm currently in is roughly 2450 and feels just right space wise, but I know it's big since our first house was 850
. My parents house is almost double the size (my grandma with polio lived with us, so it has double master suites with one being fully handicapped accessible). Their house is stupid big and I'd never want anything that big, but I wouldn't mind a couple extra rooms in my house. So I'd say over 3200 or so would be large to me.

My house is 2100 sqft and I don't get the appeal of a huge house. I could have a way bigger house in the suburbs, but I don't see the appeal of having more room for shite I don't need. I hate clutter.
I would consider anything over 3000 a large home

When you get pissed you left your beer on the other side of the house because it's so far away.

I think it is called a starter home because that's the size you have starting your life/family, when you have a kid or two you then need the space of a modest or large home
