Outside of the OF and SS your guess is as good as any right now. Weekend rotation will be interesting as well...glad to have Eric Walker back finally.

Not for the first month of the season, at least.

Brock Mathis will be catching. Drew Bianco may see time behind the plate due to the injuries that Garza and Willis are still recovering from.

I'd like to see Josh Smith back at 3rd. He was solid there his Freshman year, and last year showed how much a solid defender at 3rd is valuable. Squints was good for at least an error a game at 3rd last year. I think Hughes and Broussard up the middle makes better sense.

I just hope he's a little bit better hitter this year and not an easy out.

I fine with him being a home in the lineup if the other 8 are good to great hitters. Last year you were decent at the top but had a couple of average at best hitters.

lol. Josh will be at SS because he's the best option we have there, defensively and offensively.

For what it's worth, I spoke with a dad of a current player over the weekend. I asked him about who would play in the spring. He
said
CABRERA, WATSON, DUPLANTIS
HUGHES 5, SMITH 6, BIANCO 4, Toss up on 3, Garza 2.
Marceaux Friday night guy eventually, cole Henry possibly in the weekend based on what Walker and Hess does. He clamied hess was very inconsistent over the fall.

Hess is inconsistent. That is unlikely to change. Folks need to accept it.

Why?

Do you not think that there are mechanical tweaks possible that lead to better feel for his pitches allowing him to become more consistent? It happens all the time at all levels of baseball.

What is it about Zack Hess that leads you to believe he can't do that?

Hess needs to go back to the pen.

Hess just isn’t a starter. He’s destined for the pen if he makes it to the MLB. He would do himself and this team a favor if he settled into that closer role now.

You would prefer to use our most talented pitcher for 2 or 3 innings a weekend vs 6 or 7 innings a weekend?

Based on?

There are plenty of MLB relievers that were fantastic starters in college.

He would be doing his team a favor if, as our best pitcher, he took a reduced innings role and only pitched in save situations, allowing for a lesser replacement to throw more innings than him? That makes zero sense.
