The same logic pattern used to say that "Die Hard" isn't a Christmas movie could be used to describe virtually any Christmas movie that doesn't have elves running around because the same story likely would have still made sense if it happened at Easter or Thanksgiving.

Almost all “Christmas movies” I can think of make Christmas THE main theme and plot of the movie. Movies like Elf, The Santa Claus, The Grinch, etc...
