I’m curious how many OT baws watched/listened to it? It hit me hard seeing 43 break down at the end of his eulogy. Regardless of your politics it’s hard not to get choked up when you hear of all the good one man was able to do. I pray that this will leave our country a little more united in all stations of life.

***Grew up in a Reagan household, ‘88 was the first election I remember, and especially after this week pray that I will see President [George] Prescott Bush being the sitting president eulogizing W.

I saw this picture earlier. I remember that speech on 9/14/01 like it was just the other day. It was very moving just like his eulogy.

His comment at the end about his dad actually makes a lot of people cringe sadly. Many people that didnt have a father tend to show their jealousy heavily there. This is what I thought of when I heard it.

I've had friends with no involved fathers that have told me that. Answered a lot questions on why people reacted in certain ways in conversations.

Yeah when a President dies, especially one who served in WW2 and served the public his whole life, politics should never come into it. It’s nice in today’s climate to see Americans come together for something.

RIP Mr President.

I’ve been listening to it at work. It’s been hard to stay composed and not choke up, especially after listening to the eulogy, as he was a personal hero of mine. If I could be 1/10 of what he was, I’d be honored.

I didn’t realize how much I like W. He’s genuinely a good guy. Politics is mostly bullshite.

SO watched and got all upset thinking about her own deceased father. I don't watch these sorts of public memorials.

I caught all the important parts yesterday and today. I saw W’s eulogy and as far as a son’s eulogy for his father goes, president or a regular joe, it was a fantastic one.

I was able to see some of it yesterday. A former senator, Al Simpson from Wyoming was talking. He was actually pretty funny, which I thought was a good touch to the funeral for a guy who had a sense of humor.

Here is his eulogy.

As I watched the Houston part of the funeral on C-Span 1 (minus any potential network comments), I was struck by the feeling that this was reflecting so much of what is so good about America - tradition, faith, unity, family, goodness, patriotism - minus all the hateful street theater comments, political lunacy, anger and partisan bickering we are fed on a daily basis by the commercial media of left and right persuasions. It was like seeing an America I grew up in, but that had grown distant over time. It was good to be reminded that it is still here - one can tend to forget from day to day. It was like coming home.
