Sonofa.... why in the hell would any supposed LSU fan EVER start a damn thread asking why any other team did not want to interview top notch coaches?
SMDH.
SMDH.

he's got a shot at 9 wins this year at iowa state and has 3 top 10 wins (top 6 actually) in 2 years.
On the other hand, WVU is currently 19th in the most recent 2018 composite, so that’s not really a top-10 win, despite what their ranking was at the time. It’s just a pet peeve of mine when the ranking at the time of the game is used to evaluate the quality of a victory when there is a whole season’s worth of data to use instead.
Beating a preseason top 5 team in the opening game, who ends up with a losing record at the end of the season, shouldn’t be considered a top 5 victory.
Regardless Campbell is done a very good job at both Toledo and Iowa State. He should be on the short list of any school doing a nationwide search; however, I don’t think his success is so great that the success has a high likelihood of translating to a major program, like Urban at Utah, Brian Kelley at Cinci, and Harbaugh at Stanford.

Campbell needs to prove himself at a Tier 2 school
But Day doesn't? He won three games as the head coach against three awful teams. Campbell has made Iowa State good. That's nearly impossible to do. There is a reason Campbell is very highly regarded in coaching circles.

Michigan,Nebraska and Penn St will win a B10 championship Before OSU does

Ohio State is a well oiled machine. I have faith that Ryan Day will keep it rolling along.

If you call missing the playoffs half the time well oiled, then I guess so?

Campbell has proven himself to be a good and consistent coach over a significant period of time, something Day has not. However, the one thing day has been able to show, that Campbell has not had a chance to show, is they he can manage the distractions and pressure of a major program under a microscope.
Campbell can squeak by a 3 point victory against a mediocre FCS school and 3 days later his school's fans are relieved he won't leave for a possible coaching vacancy that opened up. Ohio State beats Nebraska by 5 and OSU fans are calling Urban and his coaching staff as one of the worst coaching staff's in the country despite a top-10 ranking.
The pressure is a lot different at an Iowa State than an Ohio State, and I think those differences are why sometimes the coaching ability on the field does not always translate as seamlessly as expected.

No. He's proven himself at Ohio State. He's earned his opportunity, and certainly more so than someone who won 8 games in the weak Big 12.

Somewhat, but not about Campbell. There's absolutely no reason to put on a search or even give Campbell a look when our guy is already on staff.

They need to curtail the once a year being curb stomped by margin to 4 and 5 loss teams...
But, otherwise are still an auto 10/11 win per yr roster as of current..loaded if coached right.
I bet Ryan Day has them playing better fundamental ball next year than these last few CUM teams have exhibited, just a hunch.

I think the continuity, alone with Day's ability and his demand elsewhere, makes this decision less risky than any other (unless something impossible like Saban was available). But if that wasn't the case, then Campbell would definitely deserve serious consideration, and may have been the best option.

That's fine. I like that he's an Ohio guy and that he's won championships with Mount Union.
That's not what this thread is about. This is about CatsGoneWild melting because Ohio State didn't look at his guy.

You can’t criticize how I characterize the wins then throw out this nonsense. Non of the games were opening games. All were actually October in the thick of the season and OU went to the playoff. TCU only lost to OU and Iowa state.
I’ll give you WVU, but they were 6th, hyped up big in the conference and nation, and will Grier was the Heisman front runner until Iowa state shut them down completely.

Maybe that's just a sample size issue, but considering I would expect more errors early in the season, they did seem more sloppy after Urban took back over. Or maybe that's just the bad with the far more good of Urban's approach, but I think they may be related to why there were those one, inexcusably poor performance (even dating back to Florida), that seemed to happen every year.

frick no. I want him at LSU.

You're not Ohio State, and that's OK. Campbell would be a great hire for y'all. He's simply not someone I'd be interested in yet.
I know you’re trolling, but it’s absurd to act like Ohio state is too good for him. If they didn’t have their guy in house, campbell would be on the extremely short list.

We, along with FSU and Miami, have been one of the most penalized teams for like 20 years now. I wouldn't put that on Urban. Must be something in the water down here.

But I think WVU was just a bit overrated when they played Iowa State since they hadn't played a single team who would finish the season with a winning record, including their FCS opponent, Youngstown State.
It will still an impressive victory, especially defensively though.

I sorta noticed that too, and it threw me off. Sure, it could've been just rolling over the soft early schedule, and the Bosa,etc..injuries. But, yeah, it seemed Day had the team dialed in during the suspension, then when Urban came back, the team got sloppier and Defense appalling until Michigan.
