What happened to Jrue's outside shooting

Over the last four seasons, he is a 33% three-point shooter. Though this year is by far his worse year, its not an abberatiion. He has been trending this way and he now has to be considered a "non-shooter"
Basically, he has become Ricky Rubio. Their 3-pt shooting numbers are nearly identical the last 4 years. His first couple of years, he was a good three-point shooter.
Looking for theories as to why you think is going on. And just to give you some statistical info - He is getting more open looks, more catch and shoot and assisted opportunities as well compared to his early years.
So.....theories?

His shooting will regress to the mean. We’ve only played a quarter of the season and may be in a shooting slump. He’ll be fine

You clearly didn't read the post. Dummy.

He had the same release when he was a good three-point shooter.
How many guards have you seen start off as a good three point shooter and regress to a terrible one in their later 20's? It usually trends the opposite way

A complete shot in the dark, but maybe we’ve asked him to do too much. Could it be fatigue?

Wesley complains about his form or not being square every time he misses. I assume he works on it regularly so it's pretty hard to explain why he's regressed when he should be getting better like you said. I know a lot of his 3 point shots used to be pull ups and now he's getting more catch and shoots (eye test but with his changing role I think the stats should back that up). Maybe he's not getting in rhythm doing catch and shoot more.

Its possible. I would say that and perhaps him overthinking as his role keeps changing are at least a part of it.

What's the stats on catch and shoot?
From the eye test he's a terrible off the dribble 3 point shooter, but I thought was decent with catch and shooting.
And he clangs a lot off the back iron, which indicates a lot of arms and not much legs

He is slightly better on catch and shoot last 4:
Slightly over 34% on catch and shoot. But that number was around 40% in Philly and his first few years here. And he is actually taking more catch and shoot here than he did in Philly.
Long story short, he is getting more open looks and more catch and shoot looks the past four years, and yet his percentage is down across the board.
Hitting less of the ones he creates for himself, less assisted ones, and way down on open and wide open looks.
Down across the board, so it's impossible to blame shot selection. He is a bad shooter, regardless of situation

He has taken an awful step back 3 19 times this year and made 5 of them. Wesley hates it. I do as well.
I think it really all boils down to shot selection for him. He needs to start inside with his shot selection and see it go in. When he misses layups and short jumpers he kinda jacks up 3s with no real rhyme or reason.

That is just one per game. And yes, I agree he should cut that. The bigger long term issue is that even when it's a three you want him to take - he do snt make them at even an average level. He is a shooting guard who doesn't shoot well.
And that really limits the guys you can put around him. We all want Payton back, but that is a terrible shooting g backcourt. Maybe the worst in the league

my guess? nothing happened to his shooting other than more volume created a more complete picture of his accuracy from 3
he's had 4 seasons above 37% from 3 in his career. his 3PA in those seasons? 159, 171, 77, 135. seasons with over 200 3PA, he's at 35% for his career.
that's not great, but he needs to keep shooting them. his current % will surely go up. even at 33-35%, defenses will guard him from 3, unlike a Rondo or a Payton.
Pels need him and Mirotic to keep letting them fly to create space for shots at the rim

If that is true, then thats on Jrue. Every player takes more 3's now than they did 5 years ago. And some guys like Gasol, Vucevic, Lopez, etc didn't take any 5 years ago and are now proficient.
If your theory is right, that he was always pretty bad, but now volume is showing it, then it means he has not worked on it nearly enough

i don't know enough to say it's an indictment on Holiday's work ethic. but i wouldn't jump to that conclusion. some guys become better shooters, some don't, not always because of effort.
even then, we're still talking small margins- in 15/16 he shot 33.6% from 3 on 259 attempts. he has 5 3s not rim out and he's a "good" shooter at 37% that year.
and i certainly think the Pels are okay with him at 33-35% next to Payton. that's not particularly good, but it's enough to keep the defense honest. the Pels just aren't really interested in 3s, unlike the rest of the league.

I see much of it as shot selection and decision making, late in the shot clock he seems to chunk them up and his weird step back ones near the top of the arc. I think he's being asked to do too much as well and his percentage will go up if we get Payton back.

I think it all comes down to the way he is constantly changing his role. He also is asked to do a ton on defense. I don’t know if that could have effect on it.
If he had a consistent off ball role every night and didn’t have to dominate on defense I wonder if his shooting would go up.

What do the stats say about off the dribble 3ptrs? It seems as if he is taking 2-3 of those a game.
