The wife and I were in the MS suburbs of Memphis a few months ago. We went to a BBQ restaurant and got the "smoking or non?" question at the door. I haven't heard that in a long time

Good. Screw smokers. I don’t want to share in your cancer

I agree but if I owned a business that decision would be up to me and not you. It would all depend on the money, simple as that. My bottom line would be more important at the end of the day.

How do you know? It's a fact that second-hand smoke is unhealthy to breath.

indoor air pollution levels in Baton Rouge bars and casinos have fallen 98.8% since the ordinance went into effect on June 1, according to a recent study.
part of what i do for a living is indoor air quality assessments, and this sentence is vague AF

The market was already taking care of this. Bars like Ivars have been smoke free for years prior to this law.

Well, thank God we had the authoritarians speed things up for us. We'd just be lost without them.

I don't agree with it either. Next it will be laws about what you can't do in your own home. It will be passed used the guise of health and safety though.

Very glad that EBR Parish finally did the right thing. People (customers and workers) shouldn't be subjected to an unhealthy habit just because some people are ignorant and choose to smoke.

. I own my business. If I want to allow a legal activity on my premises, who the hell is the government to tell me otherwise?

Owning a business does not mean you get to ignore safety regulations. If you own an oilfield business, you're not allowed to send a guy up the Derrick without fall protection. Smoking is a safety issue for the people who work in those establishments

Anyone who still smokes cigarettes on a daily basis in this day and are very weak minded and trashy individuals. They're ranked slightly behind pit bull owners on the trashy list.

Who cares if they are trashy? Some of your beliefs regarding liberty from government intervention are downright terrifying.

But hey, at least aunt Betty won't be burning a heater at the bingo hall.

Can you give me an OSHA reg that shows how these workers are in danger from second hand smoke?

Apparently some people here think that as long as we vote on it, we can violate people's personal liberties all we want.

So only smokers have the right to personal liberties?

Let’s say I owned a small bar where I was the only employee. Should I be allowed to allow smoking in my own establishment?
