our defense hasn’t been great this year

Going into the A&M game, aranda’s defense hasn’t given up 30 or more points in 21 straight games which was the longest active streak in college football. The only reason his defense gave up more than 30 points to A&M in regulation was because Giles muffed a punt.

His defense hasn’t been as dominant as they have in the past, but he’s still one of the best coordinators in college football. I think he would be the first to tell you that our defense didn’t play great on Saturday.

This is why I hope Aranda leaves this year. Lsu doesn’t deserve him. We deserve O. Just let it all burn.

So, unless we treat him as an infallible god, we are "undeserving."

I generally like the guy a lot, but for frick's sake, come on!

What? This is why you to go to cover 3. So you dont leave the new guys on an island.

Ensminger was a temporary hire because there were no great options last off season. The plan was to hire top tier coordinators so im expecting us to pay an up and comer big bucks this off season. Will be disappointed if we don't.

The defense shut down A&M after half until they got exhausted. Aranda is great at half time and in game adjustments. Please name all the DC's you think are better than him.

Pass rush has been non-existent ever since the K'Levon injury and he's done a good job covering up for that with the zones.

We led the sec in takeaways WITHOUT A PASS RUSH.

Our defense was lit up at times this year. Is it simply because we keep getting told that he's a defensive genius?

because if we’re looking at flaws in this team, defense is not even close to being at the top of the list.

Offense has been downright putrid.
Return game has been non-existent.
Defense has been solid, but not really “elite”.

so yes, there is definitely room to criticize the D some.
but there are other issues that are a much bigger weaknesses than the defense has been.

Are y'all serious? Wow. Where to begin....

First of all he gave up 31 points to a top 20 offense on the road. Take away Giles fumble and you are looking at 24 points. His defense scored so now you're looking at 17 points.

Second of all his team won the game for us just to have refs take it away.

Thirdly, what, half of his starters were hurt by the end of the game? Another one ejected for targeting...No fresh legs anywhere after a couple overtimes.

Without Aranda we lose 5 games this year.

Because we have gone 21 straight in the SEC without anyone scoring 30 on our D before Saturday. I would be willing to bet your next $500 paycheck that Aranda is more upset about the game than you.

Not only that but they made a stop in ot and our clown oc calls 4 running plays and they played for the tie. Then turned around in the 5th ot and threw a hb pass that wouldve won the game the previous ot.

I don't know if I've ever been more frustrated by an LSU touchdown before.

Everyone in my family cheered for a second, then was like, where the hell was that on the last possession?!

Sure there were. Sterling Gilbert, Mike Yurcich and Sonny Cumbie just to name a few.

He deserves criticism too. The 4th and 18 conversion was bad, no way they should have converted on that play. The Arkansas game and the La Tech game were head scratchers for me as well. By no means should he be fired, nor is he irreplaceable.

He’s gotten some criticism. But anyone with eyes and a cursory knowledge of football understands that he and his defense have been keeping this ship afloat. Didn’t we give up less than 300 yards in regulation?

No. After the last drive it was 354 I believe.

It was a mixed bag. A&M has a red zone offense similar to us. Very poor at scoring TDs and A&M scored TDs on their first 2 red zone trips. After half-time adjustments Aranda did a great job shutting Williams down and the offense went out and scored to tie it up. All momentum was going our way until the Giles fumble.

That final drive A&M ran 12 plays in 89 seconds with no timeouts. Not even sure how you do that. I'd be interested to see if there was any questionable time keeping.

Tap the brakes - I put more of the blame for this loss on the defense than the offense, but the defense has been outstanding for significant stretches

that's the part that concerns me...
the D lost us the game w ND last year.
4th quarter...bad defense, we lost.

something happens that we become soft at times..this is obvious and needs correcting.
At this time is is not a firing situation, but needs corrected A LOT OF MONEY is being paid to have a good D.

Keep pumping that narrative. Of course, if you're not a complete idiot and you're intellectually honest, you will realize that the criticism of Aranda and the defense boils down to "they're not perfect". Meanwhile O and E and their incompetent, flaccid offense continues to putter along.

He is starting to, however, Aranda puts up with a lot of shite considering the offense often doesn't extend drives or provide much cushion.

I give him a pass for the college OT. At one point with the non actives and conditions of the games/players hurt.. we had like 7 starters out on D.

I still feel like our defense made the plays needed to win this game, time and time again.. only to be robbed..

And again, it was a 7 OT game with worn out players. Which is really why E shouldn't get much credit for the OT score. Both teams were clearly just gassed defensively.

A&m has a top 3 DC as well.. and he just gave up 70+ to AN LSU OFFENSE..

Think about that..

That has to be far more insulting..
