My personal observations - He did not have possession immediately when the ball hit his hands, notice in pic 2 his right hand is in a fist and not holding the ball. However, he then gets a firm grasp on the ball with his right hand in the next frame and has full possession of the ball, takes a full step and then is hit by Delpit causing the fumble. I realize I may be biased a bit, but that's what I see here. 100% a catch/fumble IMO.

pic 2

pic 3 - Possession of ball with both hands and foot planted on ground taking a step BEFORE Delpit impact.

pic 4 - Closeup of possession before Depit arrives

pic 5 - Delpit hit causing fumble

We could do this for days.

There were so many questionable calls by the officials.

Very close. Looked like two steps and a football move to me. At least worthy of a review.

I mean, if that isn't a fumble then I don't know what else is.

It was one of many bad calls. Move on.

He sure tried hard to recover that incompletion, didn’t he?

Do y'all recall the Lance Moore circus two-point conversion in Super Bowl 44? When a WR makes a second act to catch the ball, he is by definition in possession. If he bobbled and then secured possession, it is his ball and the play is live. He was stripped after the second act. This was a fumble.

Live I thought fumble 100%. The slow mo, I could go either way. I don’t see how it didn’t deserve a longer look than it got though.

Seems like refs are taught now to let the play run its course on close turnovers. The A&M pick six in the second quarter where the ball was rolling on the ground was played out and not this one. Awful officiating. Plus, the whistle was blown late proving he didn't know. If that was called a fumble on the field, it would have been upheld.

It got no looks from the refs, they went with the live call and didn't consider a replay. A game-deciding very close decision and they don't even look at it. That's inexcusable.

O should have challenged the call on the field as a fumble and challenged the spot on 4th and 18.

Just as shocking as the call itself is the officials, when O was questioning the call, telling him not to call a TO hoping for a video review because they weren’t changing the call regardless of what video might show.

I've heard people saying this, but where does this come from? Did O say that's what the ref said? Im trying to figure out the origin...

He controlled that ball. All this bullshite about a football move, etc is insane. What if he would make a catch standing still and not make another move? Is it a catch? Sure it is. Because he has it controlled. Why are we punish for getting there quickly

Most frustrating part is that the officials are told to do the opposite of what they did.

They should let the play continue and then have it overturned. That is the cheating part. Yes

You put in a lot of work on something that isn’t going to change anything.

It was a great defensive hit after a catch. I thought we were done because I saw it as a clear catch, but Delpit immediately hit him and surprised him causing the fumble.

You would think questionable calls would go 50/50 but they did not. They went 100% aTm. And there were several. In fact way beyond the norm of a regular CFB game. I can't fault aTm. I fault the refs.
