Per Football Scoop

Dave started his coaching career there under Mike Leach in 2000

I don't know how Aranda would really be a head coach because they said he is a man of few words. Head coaches in football are usually the exact opposite.

Hope that he is and hope that he goes and we will see what it is to be without him and maybe bring the Shrimp Boat Captain back to shrimping and get a real Head Coach in here.

Damn, this will be tough to swallow if it happens. Would've been so easy to hire him as our HC and get a badass OC. Instead we promoted a terrible HC that promoted a terrible OC.

I wonder who gets promoted to replace him.

We had a good ride.

With the way O was chewing his arse out last night it wouldn’t surprise me if he takes it.

Wouldn't blame him one bit for leaving the way this fanbase dumps on him whenever the defense gives up a first down.

I hope he leaves. He is holding up O's pants anyway.
If JA gives O an extension and DA leaves it will be much more closer to cleaning house.

If I’m him, I take the job.

Other candidates that could surface during the course of the impending Texas Tech search are Utah State head coach Matt Wells, Memphis head coach Mike Norvell, Todd Graham, a former Texas high school football coach who served as the head coach at Rice, Tulsa, Pittsburgh and Arizona State, and LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda.

just to be clear. part of a pure speculative piece

Texas Tech just had a miserable few years under an inexperienced head coach. Doubt they want to do that again with Aranda right now. They'll go for a known commodity....

Doesn’t seem like he has the personality for a head coach.

I trust Ed Orgeron to go out and hire the best defensive coordinator to replace Aranda. He has shown he is great at hiring coordinators dating all the way back to Ole Miss.

After seeing Orgeron screaming at Aranda during the game last night, I could see Aranda saying "frick it, I'm out of this shite show."

I won’t be crazy upset if Aranda goes. His D is a bit soft for me.

I like pressure D Coordinators like Pelini.

He can do better if he waits, the big 12 ain’t the place for Dave.

How much was TT paying Kliff?

A defensive coach is not going to take a HC job at one of the worst teams in the Big 12. That would be career suicide.

Texas Tech would get blown up and Aranda would lose his perception of defensive prowess. TT doesn't have the dudes to defend Big 12 offenses - doesn't matter who's coaching defense.

If he takes it, LSU is in trouble.

No way LSU survives with that offense and ANY defensive decline.

Losing 4th and Aranda could be a good thing. For the people that think he's great.....fine, just my opinion.
