I always liked him. Killed by a fricking worthless Singray. I don’t even think it made the 1001 ways to die in Australia book?

nearly all of the cash they made from doing the show went for the Zoo he and his family, then his wife started. Went from a shack with some fencing for cages to 100 acres?

I watched the show about him and the kids, and man was it tough to get thru, especially when he breaks down about his kids and hoping one day they take over and he gets emotional.

His death still bothers me. He was by far the best person and voice for his cause of wildlife conservation. His son has a great personality to fill his shoes but there will never be another Steve Irwin.

Stupid Steve? If he was a bad arse he’d still be around supporting his wife and kids. If you aren’t going to use your head you might as well have two buttholes.

I remember watching one of his shows and they were looking for the most deadly snake in Australia, I thinks it was the eastern brown snake, and he was laying on his stomach next to one’s lair and it decided to come out and it crawled into his shirt and just crawled around.
Irwin stayed frozen until it crawled back out of his shirt and back into his layer. Easily the biggest Oh shite moment I saw him do.

That encounter is the one that I always think about as well. Literally in the middle of nowhere, a bite from that snake is certain, excruciating death in a matter of minutes. Dude had some serious stones. Just underestimated the wrong animal.

I don’t agree with ever bestowing human rights on any animal, and would likely opposed much or all of the activism that he supported, but I loved his show. Dude was as close to fearless as it gets with animals.

Wrong animal? A ducking string ray? I have been stuck several times. I have been snorkling in schools if 1000s of the same species that killed Irwin. I didn’t even know they had stingers. I know some sisters that dove into school of horn island. Did they get stuck multiple times “yeah” did it really hurt and they have to go to hospital yeah but have I ever heard of a string ray killing someone????

No not even close

You do realize that he took a barb to the chest that pierced his heart, right?

I remember the first time I saw that show I told my wife he probably wouldn't have a long life. He was lying on the ground in the Australian Outback looking for poisonous snakes and a brown snake crawls out the hole and he just stays perfectly still as the snake crawled into his shirt and then out again before he finally stood up and walked away.

He took way too many chances with animals that could easily kill a man, but to be killed by a barb to the heart was really kind of off the charts freakish way to go.

Genuinely asking, what kind of stingray got him?

Because I've seen some stingrays up close with 5 foot wingspans and can completely one of them would kill you if their barb caught vital areas.
