It could’ve been NO’s Eiffel Tower. How expensive could it be to keep that going?

Sure did! Loved it! Not sure if I would do it today though.

My cousin used to cut hair in the city back then. One of his customers one day happened to be an engineer who designed the gondola - the guy said he wouldn’t ride it personally because too many corners were cut and they didn’t stick to the original plans. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I did. My mom was scared shiteless. I still have a few Worlds Fair beers.

Many times. It stopped on us once and we learned you could pry doors open. Kinda boring after you did it a couple times.

I rode it. It was fun. I was 9, though.
That was a fun fair.
Do they still do World's Fairs?

Yes, several times. I can’t imagine how I did it. I cringe driving over the bridges now.

No but I did the one over the Royal Gorge when I was eight, or nine. Found out I was scared of heights.

I worked in the Italian Village. It was a blast! One day the Swiss Guards from the Vatican showed up.
I met John Ritter (3s Company) and Brooke Shields.
Lemme tell y'all there was some shite going down at that fair. Mafia ran it & took their share off the top of every business there. The after hours poker games went on til dawn. I skipped those.
My BF talked me into getting on the damned gondola...I hated it. It got stuck for an hour. He thought it was funny. I did not. Still afraid of heights to this day.
I know some people along Bayou St John in Lake Vista along Wisner that bought a gondola car as yard art & fair souvenir. A lot were sold to private individuals.
But yeah was a great summer,!
