Anyone ever burnt down the garage trying to fry a turkey on Thanksgiving? Got any near misses?

I enjoy how wrong that was going but that the dude still committed to it

Did he really not think the oil was going to catch fire when it hit the open flame below it? What an idiot.

The mistake he made was not making sure the turkey was frozen solid before dropping it in the hot oil.

If I remember right its one of the top ways for house fires. People fry too close to their house.
ETA: Why was it in a weber grill? The oil wasn't over charcoal was it? He just used that as a vessel to contain it all? Seemed to backfire lol

Where’s Red Adair when you need him?

I like how the title overlay says “A Special Day” while the guy is setting everything on fire.

At what point does one ever see that setup as being workable?

I'm trying for the first time tomorrow. Wish my face luck!

On another note, my dad's friend fried a turkey once. He checked it like 60 minutes in and apparently the temp was over 400 degrees and it turned into a charcoal bricket lol. Guy wasn't the best cook.

You will be fine. It's not that hard if you can read and tell time.

As much as I hate to say it... The greaseless fryers are just as good as Oil fryers. Less of a mess and danger for those who lack common sense

so, how did that turkey come out?

The biggest key is to use a pot that is plenty big. Where most people go wrong is having the oil too close to the top. Most people don't realize how much oil is displaced when the bird is put in there.
A good practice is to put the turkey in the pot and then fill it with water. Then remove the bird. That's the level of oil you need. All these youtube fails people fill the pot with oil having no idea how much oil they need, get the oil hot, then drop the bird in which displaces the oil over the top of the pot catching on fire.
