Georgia loses to Bama and LSU and Georgia have two losses. Didn’t LSU beat Georgia? I think LSU would get the nod.

How can UGA be ahead of LSU unless it has a better record? Nonsense.

Well let’s break it down.

Assuming that the playoff four are Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, and the UM/tOSU winner

Rose Bowl: Pac-12 Champ vs UM/tOSU loser

This leaves us with Fiesta, Sugar, and Peach.

UCF somewhat likely goes to the Fiesta Bowl since they’ve least recently been “stuck” with the G5 team.

LSU and Georgia are shoe-ins for Big 6’s. I doubt that either goes to the Fiesta (probably a Big 12 team will go). In this case, I wouldn’t expect Georgia to play in the Peach Bowl since their most recent game was in Atlanta, leading me to believe that the Dawgs go to the Sugar, and LSU goes to the Peach.

Just because Georgia is in the SECCG doesn't make them automatically the second place finisher in the SEC if they lose to Alabama. There have been East teams that have made the SECCG with 3 or more losses and have gotten killed in that game. Did they go to the Sugar? Nope. Rankings will play a major role in who goes where. LSU wins out and Georgia loses, LSU goes to the Sugar.

They want butts in seats. LSU would fill the dome up. Plus, who's to say UGA even wins out? They could lose again before the SECCG.

This is completely irrelevant.

The highest ranked SEC team not in the playoffs automatically goes to the Sugar Bowl.

If Georgia finishes with two losses, they’re in a Big6 bowl. They won’t be in the Peach Bowl, so that leaves the Fiesta and Sugar Bowls for them. In this case, unless Georgia goes to the Fiesta Bowl—which I find unlikely—Georgia goes to the Sugar Bowl, and LSU to the Peach.

And Georgia will have a better record and tougher schedule than LSU in this case, diminishing LSU’s claim to SEC#2.

For those saying Sugar Bowl obviously would want LSU to fill seats, sadly these days its more about eyeballs on TV screens. It could come down to who gets better viewer ratings, UGA or LSU?

More importantly, there's no reason to think that LSU will be ranked ahead of the SECCG loser unless that team loses another game before then.

Why did they matter pre-playoff era?

Whomever thinks that’s the sugar bowl in New Orleans LOUISIANA takes a UGA team beaten by LSU and a year removed from the CFB playoffs is absolutely insane. If LSU is available the Sugar Bowl takes LSU. It’s fricking economics.

“ about the sugar bowl”

Come on, I am as upset about the way we lost that Bama game and our offense as much as anyone, but the sugar bowl would be a dam good statement for LSU football. Provided, we can score.

But Georgia will be the so called"Runner up" in the SEC.

Does that classify them higher then LSU ?
Quick question: how many times has the loser of the SEC championship gone to the Sugar (got the 2nd best bowl)?

2006, Florida won the SEC over, dunno, Auburn I think? Fla to BCS, LSU to Sugar.

2007 LSU won SEC over Tennessee, LSU to BCS, UGA to Sugar.
And so on...

Seems like there's always a team with a good record that didn't make the championship, that leapfrogs the loser of that game.

If UGA wins out then loses in the SECCG they'll be 7-2 in the SEC. LSU wins out they're 6-2.

7 wins > 6 wins. UGA is the number 2 team and goes to the Sugar. LSU likely goes to the Peach.

It's math people.

In 2006, LSU had a better record and was ranked higher than Arkansas. In 2007, Georgia had a better record and was ranked higher than Tennessee.

There’s no reason LSU should be ranked ahead of Georgia in this case. Georgia will have a better record vs a tougher schedule.

Bama has benefited from sitting at home watching the SEC Championship game and getting healthy a few times now......... Look at Auburn last year, they beat UGA and Bama,.........The system is fricked up

we brought HUMANS back with their prejudices and agendas into the process ....the BCS could compute better.

should have just gone to 4 teams w BCS or
6 teams where #1 and #2 would earn a bye.,

computers compute, humans plan/choose

No it doesn't.

The selection process has been determined. The highest ranked SEC team not in the playoffs automatically goes to the Sugar Bowl. There are no other factors in deciding who will represent the SEC in the Sugar Bowl.

LSU is only 2 spots behind UGA in CFP rankings. If LSU wins out and UGA loses the SECCG, they will fall below LSU in the final rankings, especially with a H2H loss to LSU
