Which is it? 9 or 10? This is important.

Did you listen to the whole thing? He was getting a raise regardless. No coach goes into a season with less than 4 years on their contract for recruiting purposes.

The buyout will really be the thing to look at if this does happen.

Bingo. Just hope like hell they have the sense to not make this extension difficult to walk away from.

Weird that we didnt give Les an extension for going 7-0 before the alabama game, then ending up 9-3.

So basically LSU is giving him a raise for the same thing they fired Miles for (9 win seasons). Nice...

A raise for winning 9 games...when we fired our previous coach for regularly winning 9 games...

You can't make this up.

Fired a guy because he couldn't win another championship. Now their giving extension to guys who can't win either. Also, every coach can recruit against him because he's done nothing with his previous stops. We also know he's hardpressed on his style and his man, Coach E.

I’m fine with a tase to the 4 million range if we win out.

I still Think an extension is premature. We have 3 years left on the Co tract, let’s see how he does year 3, and make our decision then.

(Joe will give him 5 mill 10 years, I know I know)

Coach O is going to have a far longer leash than Les. For no reasons that make any good sense, but that's where we are. Imo, until Alleva goes, O is staying

The higher salary we give O, the less palpable the aranda salary is going to become when someone comes calling for the boosters

He's got to be gone pecan after this season. He knows he's not going to be HC here.

At the same time he knows hes got us bent over a barrel. He hasnt got much buzz for HC jobs yet but if other teams come calling to get him as DC he can just keep raising his salary to insane levels because he knows how fricked we are without him. But at some point the boosters are going to go "why are we paying two guys head coaching money to have the same results" and somethings going to give

I think this is a selling point agents use to get raises and ad’s fall for it. A coach is only getting fired if he’s losing too many. I doubt a recruit is reading much into the contract

If a coach insists he needs the extension, give it to him without the buyout. No reason to give both, especially to coach o, who wasn’t getting other offers at the time.

LSU had more bargaining power and did less with it than any coaching hire I can remember.

I like how you "just heard" this. From who? Alleva?

We weren’t getting 9 wins a season and we’re falling to the bottom of the pack in the SEC West. We are now still ranked in the top ten and spent some time at #4.
After 2011, Miles teams took a strong downward trajectory. What was his 2014 ranked at the end of the season? Oh, they were ranked in the top 25 so no one knows.
