Sleazy lawyers pay auto insurance also...so what if costs go up

Sleazy lawyers will just file a fraudulent law suit against an insurance company and cover their premiums

If these are staged accidents and phony injury claims, why would they say they are not injured at the scene? That doesn't make sense.

See the jury threshold in LA.... it’s 50k, jackass judeges are gonna give it anyways. It’s literally almost triple the next state which is at 15k... that’s why they settle.

See, that's where it breaks down for me. How does this # compare per capita? NOLA has 390k population at best. Plus there are a shite-ton of docs doing backs. Even rolling in surrounding areas for plaintiffs, you add a lot of surgeons too.

I just don't believe there are enough car accidents to support the number/volume of cases needed for even just the TV attys, especially when half or more drivers only have minimum insurance.

Something has to give in this market.

There’s more commercial ($1 million) policies driving around out there than many people realize. That’s the jackpot they’re all trying to hit. Odds are pretty good in their favor.

"not injured at the scene"

Occurs on regular basis...even when there is no damage to either vehicle...talking bumpers just lightly touched
Next thing you find out from papers being served that there are injuries/life long injuries

There is an ortho in N.O. who all the plt attys use for major cases. At one point 2 yrs ago he was performing 7 back surgeries a week @ $25K a pop. Do the math. Another's specialty is taking a ankle injury and working his way up to the back. Bad ankle leads to a bad gait, knee messed up, so surgery on ankle and knee, bad knee messes up the hip, hip surgery which leads to a bad back which leads to back surgery . What are the odds that there are kickbacks out there?

There are a couple of clinics in Baton Rouge that provide MRI imaging, and physical therapy, they deal almost exclusively with PI attorneys. The clients are usually victims of car accidents, or slip and falls involving businesses. The clients are sent to a particular physician who orders a MRI at this facility, from the results of the MRI which is always interpreted by the same radiologist the physician orders physical therapy at the same clinic. There are similar operations in New Orleans owned by the same people and involving the same physicians. Maybe it is all legit, but it seems pretty shady.

Same happened to me. Jefferson Parish Sheriff detective in an unmarked car hit me in a Parish outside of JP, then he turned on his lights and pulled me over. State Police came out and took his side and wrote me a ticket and put me at fault although the JP hit me. It was their word against mine.

3 weeks later the JP filed an injury claim saying he hurt his knee in the accident. The insurance company didn’t even investigate they just paid him.

I had an attorney ready to fight it Pro Bono but they settled before we could supeanea his statement which was all lies. I know his name and he has a record of doing shite like this.

I’m always looking out for him, his day will come.

6 or 7 years ago i12 east was closed just after Millerville due to an accident and everyone was being forced off at the exit. Some jerk comes flying down the shoulder and cuts me off then has to slam on his brakes at the yield sign.

I hit his trailer hitch going less than 10 MPH. He gets out says he’s fine, but insists on getting insurance involved. Claimed all kinds of rear bumper damage and my insurance company gave him $1200 for his “injuries”.

I had an off-duty BRPD cop run into the back of me, and I ended up with a DWI because of it. Careless operation and no blinker were on the ticket. I was stopped at a stoplight

Do they see/treat any "non accident" patients? If not, that would seem to raise a red flag to the LSBME and the LSBA to at least start sniffing around.

Oh wait, that's right. Neither entity gives two shits about that kind of sleazy, unprofessional behavior.

Because if they announced injury at accident site then they would be tended to by unbiased medical personnel. Medical findings would be that there is no injury present. If they wait and see plaintiff preferred Dr. then the medical comments will read in a much different manner.

Has anyone elaborated on what tort reform they would like to see?

Lower the civil jury threshold (currently $50K) and get rid of collateral source rule. Thats a start.
