re: How to deal with kids from other neighborhoods coming into yours and causing trouble?

Last year our HOA required RFID chips in our hands to enter the pool. At our last meeting we decided to hand out portable chip readers to anyone who wanted to use them to not give candy to outsiders. Should be foolproof but we'll see how it goes.

It’s just the principle and they should foster their own sense of community in their neighborhood
So in other words, the "causing trouble" is being where they are not welcome.

i encourage kids to mark the homes where they get turned away and come back and slash their tires.

The town I live in doesn’t really have neighborhoods. Everyone is welcome to the one block where trick or treating is protected by barricades.
No one causes trouble and no ones better than anyone else. Novel concept.

Anyway over the years I have come up with several ways to solve this problem. Usually when I suspect them of not being from the neighborhood I just out right ask them. If they aren’t from around there I just turn them away.
Wow. You sound like a major douchetard.

How do they cause trouble? Just admit it, you don’t like people that don’t look like you. I don’t live in a neighborhood anymore, but I always enjoyed giving out candy to every kid and teenager that came to our house. Lighten up dude. This world needs some generosity.

These kids probably live in shitty neighborhoods and their parents want to give them a better experience.
Why does their neighborhood have to be shitty? They should be the change they want to see and do something about it. Just because they live in a less fortunate part of town doesn’t mean it has to be dangerous

what trouble are they causing exactly? Taking free candy? Who the F cares.

The caravans of illegals coming our way up through Mexico have him on edge right now.

Leaving their candy wrapper trash around, grabbing candy out the hand without saying anything are just a couple of the things. I have also seen it sever times when one of my neighbors leaves just a bucket of candy up with their decorations and these kids go up and take the entire bucket and trash all their decorations. Very unfortunate

The way I deal with it is I give them candy because I'm not a piece of shite a-hole.

Last year I had one kid tried to steal my little Slow Joe dude I put out in the street to keep the cars from flying by
Another time we had kids chasing each other down the sidewalks knocking people over including strollers and wagons.
Also, it never fails, there's always that kid that tries to steal the entire bowl of candy when you're no looking.
Yes, the kids from the less desirable neighborhoods that come into the nicer areas do in fact cause trouble....then may not mean to, because thats the way they are being raised and just dont know any better on how to act.

People are actually willing to go to that much trouble to avoid other kids coming in to trick or treat?

We have lots of kids in our neighborhood that don’t live here. They don’t cause any trouble and I give them all candy
Posted on 10/31/18 at 10:25 am to deathvalleyfreak43
I just hand them some candy and keep on living my life. It's a couple bucks a bag one night a year.

Why does Halloween trigger this board more than any other holiday?

Wow! I did not realize it was so bad. Maybe you should call the police or write your Congressman.

Exactly, things like this do happen.
We also have this problem in our neighborhood as well with cars flying by. I usually have my oldest son out there (16) too old to trick or treat. Flagging the speeders down and kindly asking them to keep it at a reasonable pace. I would do it myself but I’m busy at the door handing out candy
