The Road

Not a movie but Justified was much better than the Books it's based upon.

I have a hard time saying anything by Cormac Mccarthy just because the books are so damn good.

Book’s not bad, just much more somber. Movie is dark comic gold.

Jurassic Park the movie was great, but the book was phenomenal. Just so much more depth to the whole story.

Same with Silence of the Lambs and that's saying something because the movie won Best Picture.

Meh... the movie almost follows the book exactly.

Clicked on this thread to downvote any LOTR comments.

But my answer is Gone Girl. Book is good (I read it after watching the movie), but they made some great changes to the script, and Gillian Flynn's writing is choppy as hell in the book. It's clear that someone helped her smooth things over for the movie. Gillian Flynn is really bad about explaining details in a distracting way.

Forrest Gump as far as movie clearly better than the book.

Fight Club is one where it’s really hard to pick for me. Both are fantastic

Correct. If you have only read the book, go ahead and watch the movie, it adds visuals to what you have already read.

If you have already seen the movie, don't bother reading the book. You won't gain any new insights to the story.

I read about 20 pages of The Road and put it down. The style with no dialogue and the characters having no names was too much to enjoy.

The Road is one of my favorite books. I read it about two months after my first child was born so it had a little more impact on me than most.

The only thing I can say about the movie is I think the casting of Viggo was spot on and I like the music by Nick Cave.
