He was on ESPNU satellite radio this morning hosted by McElroy. Unsolicited, he switches topics and says "what do you guys think about the Devin White targeting call?" McElroy backpedals and says he immediately thought targeting and said as much during the game. Now sees that it wasn't as bad as it appeared and wished there was an appeals process.

Herby then spends about 10 minutes talking about how bad of a call it was (especially the replay booth portion of it)

That’s awesome. This is really becoming fun. Honestly, I think something may actually change.

Of all the teams with Ohio State players, LSU has the clearest path to the playoff.

He’s definitely setting himself up to hammer it a game day next week. That’s for sure

ETA: Herbstreet is as unbiased a college football analyst as there is at ESPN.

Is there a link where we could listen to the segment after its aired?

Wish someone had video of this, or the pollack/mcshay segment yesterday. Some folks have to work.

Herby also pointed out you have a process there to overturn the ruling on the field and Birmingham blew it.

Thank God we got Burrow because on top of being a very good QB for LSU now some of the Ohio State weight can back LSU this and next year against the evil Bama empire while he's here! I'm shocked that J Galloway hasn't jumped on the LSU bandwagon... He must've been a Haskins guy!

The best part about it is that this can't be portrayed as LSU fans crying about refs. Some of the national media is making it as big of a deal as we are, which is awesome. It ultimately will lead to nothing, but who cares? It is making Bama fans nervous, and is opening some eyes around the nation.

Yeah. Initially on ESPNU radio show McElroy said it was a really dumb play by Devin. What a tool. He was at the game too

People think he hates LSU at times, but Herby has long struck me as one of the more knowledgeable and unbiased talking heads. He spreads the wealth well so to speak in his commentary.

It’s great to see this story getting national attention. Hoping he drills it home at GameDay. We won’t get White’s suspension lifted, but this could be the catalyst for the obvious need for change in this rule that we will see reflected next year. Whether that’s changing the wording, different levels of penalties like running into/roughing the kicker, or getting rid of the next game suspension...whatever the case, I think the more attention this gets the more likely we see some positive change.
