On beautiful days like today I ride around on my bike, and I went one neighborhood over. I’m just looking around and taking in nature while moving on the road. This man comes out and asks me, “Whatcha looking around for?” Just told him I’m enjoying the weather and was very polite about the whole thing. I wasn’t on his property. I’ve lived in the nearby neighborhood for 10 years. Should I formally introduce myself and explain this or stay the F away?

He's making sure you aren't casing his neighborhood. If you were you would know that someone was paying attention to you and could identify you as a possible suspect for whatever nefarious junk you were planning.

Good on him. We need more neighbors who give a shite.

I feel like this man was overreacting to nothing. I made him nervous somehow.
Sonic is the answer clearly

Do it again tomorrow. Wear a hoodie and take pictures of his house.

That’s the thing I’m not black. I’m a white nerd with glasses. What’s his deal?

The man sounds like a good neighbor. All you have to say is that you live in the next neighborhood over and you're out enjoying the weather. Not a big deal.

No he was not friendly. He was confronting like a “get off my lawn” but I wasn’t on his lawn

I see two possible and appropriate responses to his query that could have been utilized:

1.) "None of your damn business, asshat!"

or

2.) 'I'm scoping out houses to rob later."

tell him to mind his own business. No crime for viewing anything in plain view.

When people ask me shite like this I typically respond with: "Just minding my own business"
