When do they put the Simpsons out to pasture?

It came on after the Saints and it seems tired. I could ask the same thing about South Park.

Rumor is after the upcoming movie.

I think Matt and Tray are basically begging Comedy Central to pull the the plug at this point.
The Simpsons hasn’t been good in a while.

You shut your God damn whore mouth. South Park is still terrific.

South park will not get canned anytime soon.. I got a feeling the seasons may start getting shorter though..

SP can still be funny. The Simpsons has been garbage since the late 90s.

Simpsons 2017-18 season average was a 1.42 (3.45M viewers)

The Simpsons is already the longest running sitcom ever. I assume they don't want to lose that crown to SP. So I expect them to shut it down as soon as SP ends, whenever that may be.
Clearly The Simpsons still draws some ratings, otherwise I suspect it wouldn't still be airing. And even if the ratings aren't what they once were, I assume merch still makes a decent killing and is a moneymaker for Fox.

The Simpsons is basically SNL without the occasional blip in relevance due to a presidential election.
I'd actually wager that the Simpsons isn't that bad, just that it's forgettable now. They haven't had a memorable episode in forever. They do, however, have something that a lot of shows don't in that they have such a large universe and recurring cast to draw on for show plots.

I'd imagine the cast has lost a lot of bargaining power now and will continue for less and less money.

They dumbed the writing down long ago. There are still talented writers who would love to write for the Simpsons.
I think. Maybe not. SNL hasn't been funny in years either.

Aren't most tv shows following that same downward curve with the ubiquity of tv-on-demand?

When was the last time the Simpsons was good? 2002?

The Treehouse of Horror episode last night was horrible. I used to look forward to those episodes every year

Matt tried to stop the Simpsons about 12 years ago and the fans went batshit and so he decided to keep it going.
