I am a Rand Paul style Republican...I voted Trump bc of my hatred of Hillary (I was set to vote Johnson).

I will run to the polls whenever i can to vote Trump and any Republican. The Democrats are not the party I grew up with and respected.

The last 4 months have turned my wife maybe more conservative than I am. Though she could not get over the lies her family spews about Trump,...in the last 48 hours, she came around completely. She was the definition of Independent...now, she is pro-Trump.

I am so proud to be an American right now. Reagan talked the talk; Trump walks the walk.

Reagan walked the walk to some extent as well, but right now it's not fair to compare the two any more.

Reagan laid a good framework foundation of how a President should do his job. But Trump has completely redefined it. This is what happens when you elect a true alpha as opposed to a limp-wristed, globalistic apologist.

Only "to some extent?" What??? Walking away at Reykjavik and sticking with SDI was the most alpha move of the last 50 years. I love Trump, but the stakes during the Reagan years were much higher.

Exactly. Those too young to remember the Cold War have no idea the context of Reagan’s greatness.

To take the bold, alpha stance that Reagan took during those years was amazing. His critics called him a lunatic, deranged, and senile for having the audacity to stand up to the Soviets. And our country loved the frick out of him.

You have no clue how alpha Raegan was.

Research the Achille Lauro incident. Egypt was allowing those terrorists to get away and Raefan scrambled F14s, intercepted the flight, forced it to land in Italy and put the POSs on trial.

It was swinging the big dick time and that one incident immediately restored American pride in ourselves and put the world on notice. We were total cucks under Carter and Reagan ended that shite.

As for the OP I was not a Trump supporter. I was pissed as frick he got the nom but held my nose and voted for him because of the SpCrt. The alternative was too ghastly.

I’ve never been more politically energized. What the left has done has turned me into a right wing kook.

I'm so glad someone finally posted a thread like this. It's what this board has been missing.

Reagan faced a situation where no country would have won. Trump faced a situation where the USA was on its way to being lost, and the whole world was egging it on.

That's what liberals clamored at the time. No one would win and we should get used to the specter of the Soviets for the forseeable future. Well, Reagan won, the US won.

A "right wing kook" today would have been considered a left leaning republican in the '80's and 90's.

The Democrat party has gone so far of the leftist deep end, the entire f*cking party is completely f*cking insane.

This is key to the future Dem party's downfall - they are slowly being overrun with folks having a decidedly anti-American leaning. I just don't think that works long-term in this country.

And also walked the walk, IMHO. I wonder if you might be a little younger than me.

So far, so good.

Or the summit with Gorby - Reagan got there early, intentionally. And for the photo op, he walked out and welcomed Gorby inside.

He said, "Tear down this wall!" - (which Dems mocked him for - heck, they okay with walls keeping folks locked into Communism) - and the Wall came down.

Dude was a fricking sorcerer.

My wife was a moderate who paid very little attention to politics when we were dating. She is now further to the right than I am. How is that possible, you ask? I believe liberals should be voted out of office. She believes they should be shot.

So your saying Trump grabbed her by the pussy better than you?

Just busting your chops baw!

Actually sounds like you had the epiphany just before she did. I welcome you both to governmental sanity.

Now raise your children well.

Either you are engaging in hyperbole, or your wife is not particularly bright.

The last several weeks have provided ample reason to be increasingly anti-Democrat, but absolutely nothing during that time has provided a good reason to be more affirmatively pro-Trump

I view Reagan and Trump as equally great, but incomparable as the times are different.

Reagan came from a more gentlemanly era. People were not as media savvy or informed; however, Ronaldus Magnus ended a 40 year Cold War. Think about that........

Trump is reshaping the political landscape through a multi pronged approach of accomplishment, all the while battling a liberal, progressive, deep state, globalist, media entanglement - the likes of which has never been displayed.

We have never been led by a guy like Trump, who has no specific political affiliations. He’s a loose canon (in many good ways) that focuses on getting things done and is unencumbered by concerns over appearances as he gets it done.

No, it’s not. On a demeanor level, many wouldn’t argue with you, but Trumps list of accomplishments will far exceed Reagan’s.

Oh yes, this is definitely the conduct of a buffoon.
