Greedy and Delpit shone as usual, Fulton improved most

Our DBs are very very good! If Aranda doesn't play pressure D, we are missing out on seeing LSU at it's very best. Yes we will give up the ocassional big play in "man coverage" but our Defense gets off the field much quicker which allows them to stay fresher AND allows our offense to get back on the field quicker too - makes us a much more explosive and exciting team to watch!

And you are exactly right.
It shows poorly when LSU plays out of character in a base/basic defense against the mid-majors, but in big games, LSU's defense is at its best in attack mode.
Gives me hope against every team on the schedule.

I thought Fulton had some great coverage last night.
Delpit coming on the corner blitz is this defense at its full potential.

It will be interesting to see how we defend against Bama - they have a lot of weapons and probably run the screen passes and draws as good as anyone. I believe pressure on the QB is the answer for them too but we will need a good spy to cover the misdirection.

I'm waiting for Fulton to get that first pic six.. Could've had one last night...

I really disagree. I keyed on him a lot and thought he was a step slow or out of position the entire night. He’s a good tackler, but he’s not good in coverage.
Rest of the DBs looked good though.

Can you imagine if chassion was playing

Did you note that the ref tried to push Greedy away twice on the play when he got an unsportsman conduct penalty? Greedy went back a third time to taunt and the resulting 15 yd penalty kept the drive alive leading to a Reb TD? Ot see his half arse attempt to tackle the RB on the goal line? Two plays later the Rebs scored again. Just saying..........

i agree. hope fulton doesn't leave after this year because some scouting service says he might go in the third rnd.
they always fall for that then go undrafted or picked up in the 7th, which is what will happen if fulton leaves.

Probably 2. Tua seems to thrive when he's flushed. And their TE always seems to be open when Tua gets flushed out the pocket. I hate to say it, but their O is a well oiled machine.

That was the saddest effort I’ve ever seen Greedy make at LSU. I have a feeling he’ll get chewed out for that and not do it again.

He got beat on a crossing route early and I thought, here we go. Then he was on it the rest of the night. We needed him to step it up and he did it.

Greedy and Delpit balled out as usual.
I was also very impressed with Fulton, thought he did a much better job finding the ball. His coverage has not been bad all year, just turning to the ball has been where he struggles.
Vincent played great too, I think he will be a future stud.
I really want to trust Kelvin Joseph but he’s just not there yet. He’s got great speed and coverage skills but fails to make a play on the ball time and time again. I think Raymond can fix this.
Future looks bright for DBU.

It’s almost as if the defense goes les miles in the second half. The defense destroys the opposing offense in the first half and aranda calls off the dogs. I guess he feels he so loaded in the defensive f backfield he doesn’t need to take any more chances. Before you know it it’s a different ball game in the second half and the pattern appears to be repeating itself.

and what actually happens, is they go away from the blitz, knowing that it leaves you susceptible to big plays. Try and keep OM WR's in front of them. As long as they are completing passes and being tackled, the clock is running and it's closer to an LSU victory.
You blitz, they hit a few big plays, and next thing you know the score is not in your favor and neither is the clock.
This is not a new practice in football. It wins games. You give your team the highest percent chance to win the game when you are up 28-6 and the clock is your best friend.
