And you're going to figure that out by redshirting him?

You figure that out in practice. I would hope they know how he;s throwing before they go put him out there on the mound in a game.

I've never known you to be such an arse before. Have a nice day.

Assuming they keep Doughty and Moffitt for family reasons (because those are the 2 most obvious choices by far), I don't see how it isn't Trent Vietmeier, unless it's Bryce. Those are really the only logical looking choices.

Agreed. It should be 1 of the 1st 3 guys you listed.

I'd like to keep Bryce Jordan. I don't think he'll be an everyday starter (maybe he will be to start the season), but he's a great bat to have coming off the bench or spot starter. Really good ob%. I can see why you listed him though.

It will be a pitcher.

I'm sure someone will leave the program voluntarily, because it happens every single year. But just because we have 20 pitchers and pitchers have exploding elbows, I wouldn't be surprised if we can carry 36 again this year with one being a medical.

ETA: We could also redshirt Doughty off the roster as an equipment manager or something. Then he can come back on the roster next season (hopefully with his brother). We've got two draft eligible sophomore catchers now, one freshman catcher who may not end up behind the plate, and three recruits that are draft risks. That's why I wouldn't just get rid of Doughty altogether.

No. You have to play him. That's the last part of surgery rehab. Real adrenaline, situations, game speed.

Very possible. I could see that happening.

I've been trying to find info on other SEC teams and how their fall practices are going. Mississippi State has been scrimmaging already. They've got 3 freshman touching the mid 90s and a JUCO transfer that has hit 98.

D1 Baseball has aggregated the fall exhibition games into one schedule: LINK Does not require subscription

I haven't seen anyone post a box score for games that have been played so far, but I have seen game descriptions. I hope that the games being considered exhibitions does not prohibit the publishing of a box score. It seems to be that way for JUCOs, so I can never find reliable fall stats for teams playing as many as like 15-20 games.

I'm guessing Carter Stewart is going to play with a JUCO, he's been very quiet ever since the end of the signing period.

Obligatory reminder that they have zero championships. ETA: In any sport.

Just thought I would mention that ex-Tiger Mason Templet is back at LSU pursuing his academics.

Another labrum surgery after summer ball unfortunately

Had an outstanding season at LSU-E last year and signed with ULL

He's at Eastern Florida State with former LSU commit Andrew Lee.

I wish this guy a full recovery. I think we could all tell something was different in a bad way from what we saw in '17.

Caleb can chunk it when he's well. Very versatile - can start, mid-reliever, or closer.

Man, I miss me some LSU baseball.

I hear ya, so happy that the fall scrimmages start Sunday. If anyone knows the start time, please post it so that I don't have to bother Ms. Virginia.

A few quick answers to questions in thread. Mason is done with baseball, great kid. Beck's elbo is a major concern. The roster numbers will work out. Several freshman arms are injured. Gilbert will not red shirt, will have Engineering degree in May. His shoulder was in very bad shape prior to surgery. Bryce isn't leaving, he's All-SEC hitter when healthy and a team leader. Watson is fine. Josh is 100%. Team chemistry is very good at this point compared to last year.
