Was this when the channel was at it's peak from a ratings standpoint? TRL, Jackass, Wildboyz, Tom Green, The Osbournes? Btw, Andy Milonakis is 42 now.

Peak MTV was back when they actually played music videos.
120 Minutes, Headbangers Ball, Yo MTV Raps, etc.

I sparingly watched Jackass & Tom green. For me it was the 90's. Liquid television, MTV's oddities, weird stuff like that.

Everybody knows MTV peaked during the original airing of True Life: I have a summer share.

MTV spring break during my adolescent and teenage years was fap city, especially before they started cracking down on the swimsuits they would show on there.

How are you going to talk about early 2000's MTV without Cribs and Pimp My Ride?

Late 90s when they had Daria and Celebrity Deathmatch

So many goodies in my early teenage years...they just don't make them like this anymore. That opening for "Fear" with Godsmack Voodoo was dope.
Also, coming home from school in the afternoon and watching all of those dating gameshows they used to have.
Lastly, those first few seasons of True Life had some memorable episodes like the Tommy Cheeseballs Summershare(I truly believe this is where Jersey Shore stemmed from) and True Life I'm a gamer.

The 1990s killed them, so it was before then.
Never seen people so stupid that they wouldn't return to the formula that made them successful.

MTV peaked with The State.

I leave MTV Classics running in the background a lot... they even play all of the old promos and stuff.

When MTV actually played videos and had a handful of good shows like the Ben Stiller Show, Singled Out, the State, and Buzzkill, MTV was my favorite channel and was awesome. Also, the MTV Video Music Awards were awesome throughout the 80s up until about 2004.
In the mid 80s and late 90s, it was at its peak for music and I really got a lot of great enjoyment from it.
But the Real World broke MTV forever. Once they realized they could profit more off of reality TV, that was it. I like some of the Challenge type stuff, but Jersey Shore and Teen Mom and stuff like that, no thank you. And then there is Catfish, which is about 8 minutes of show and 52 minutes of commercials.
